I til the rf mount came out, one could say the same about the ef mount, as it had 30 years to build out lens line up, like the Sony e mount has had a solid decade or more to build out the line up. So naturally they have way more choices than the rf. As a canon shooter I really hope they fill out their line up and open the mount sooner rather than later. I have been flirting with Sony options for a little while, but the cameras haven’t hit me enough in the gotta have at the right price point.

There are currently 241 Canon lenses I can use on my R5 plus hundreds of Sigma, Tamron, Samyang, Laowa, TT Artisan and other, lenses I can also use on my R5. There were 140M Canon EF lenses sold, so they are very plentiful and easy to obtain 2nd hand also. These can all be used on my R5. The Sony a1 was to small in my hands, doesn't have a flip sreeen, and the evf is lacking, and doesnt have animal eye af on video, thus is not the camera for me. I also love using the absolutely class leading iq RF mkunt lenses, eg, my 80mm F1.2 and 100-500mm. The Tamron lens reviewed here is slow. @ f6.3 for anything longer than 150mm. And, the a1 had trouble hitting focus using this lens according to Jared Polin. This is a budget lens.
@Phoenixrider92412 жыл бұрын
@@Gremlack13 yes, but Canon isn't taking the steps to get the RF mount populated. A lot of people I know use Sony because of the varied lens selection. Canon insists on stopping anyone from working with their mount. Till that is solved, the RF cameras will always have this one big con. I know many people speak of adapted EF glass, but that adds another expense and another point of faliure. Also it may not support every third party lens well.

‘1️⃣Some modern lenses allow you to adjust the ease of zooming’ I don’t know how old the Canon 100-400mm II is but that has this feature. 2️⃣ Why can’t you update the lens firmware through the camera? Cos Canon wouldn’t allow that to work with their current attitude towards third part lenses on R series bodies. You could use Tamron lenses on Canon R bodies with the RF-EF adapter so you need to update the lens firmware straight onto the lens.

I personnaly love the fact that Sony bodies are so dense, maybe the grip is not that big and funky but it works out in most case. Maybe for the most "pro" version (A9 & A1) they should have gone with a bigger body style much like the 1Dx, R3 or Z9 but for the other part of the lineup clearly not. If you take an 90D in hand, yes it has a bigger grip but it feels plasticy and looks like a kid's toy whereas with an A6300 you know you have a solid chunk in your hands.

I use the Tamron 100-400 on EF mount. It's a brilliant lens for Landscape and Wildlife. However you have a lens with very similar focal length already. You could look at primes. Like the Sigma Art 70mm Macro Or when I had a 80D I used the Sigma Art 18-35mm f/1.8 A great lens if you find yourself using the wider end of your 18-135mm a lot. You get the benefit of brighter aperture but you do lose the IS. With you having coverage currently from 18mm all the way to 300mm The question I would ask would be, what focal lengths do you enjoy shooting at the most.

The Tamron, out of these four, actually lives always readily available on my body. For the best lens is the one allowingvyou to take the shot. Used it indoors as well and held up pretty nice. Most of what you say in the review about this lens (how ISO will climb, etc.) is just obvious from its specs and could be said about any lens with such specs. Sure, it's not 400mm 2.8. What would be really interesting to know is how it compares in sharpness, stabilization, and AF to other similar lenses. i.e. Sigma 100-400 and Sony 100-400 GM. How much (if at all) the performance at 100-400 is compromised as a trade-off to the addition of 50mm at the wide end? By the way, the USB port is not just for the firmware, but also for customisation of the 3-way mode switch that you never use, but could nevertheless be useful for some people ))

I wish you said it was the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 "for the Sony full-frame mirrorless" right at the beginning... as it sounded interesting... and about 5 mins in... went to pull up the page, and found that out... and nope, doesn't work with my current gear.
