Thank you so much for watching! I wanted to share my story on how my upbringing took me down a path where I felt trapped and how with support from my husband we both worked hard to get to where we are today. I hope that my story could inspire or bring hope to someone who also feels trapped and knows that there is a path forward to the life you want to live. I hope you enjoyed this video and if you did please like, comment and subscribe if you haven’t, until next time!

Hi, how do you take care of healthcare? Unforeseen medical bills can be exorbitant for foreigners.
@linda_and_tonyАй бұрын
@teamplayer613 we haven’t gotten our insurance sorted out fully yet. We have an emergency fund in case of unforeseen expenses

Been binge watching you guys and kept saying you (Linda) looks very familiar, then it hit me, you look exactly like my cousin except for a rounder face. lol. I'm glad you guys are living the life in Bangkok. You're living my dream right now. I can easily retired early in Thailand but my school aged kids are holding us back. Like you I can easily live off of dividends but I also have rental income I can live on. My investment portfolio will go to my kids in the future, trying to build generational wealth for my kids and financial literacy is the greatest gift you can give to your kids.

So true financial literacy at an early age will give your kids ahead start. I wish I’d have learned this when I was younger would have been in an even better place than now 😄

Hi there: I ran into your VDO clips and channel while I was browsing through something for my American friends who're looking forward to retiring in Thailand, my home country. Thanks for sharing your stories though. I hope you'll find what you are looking for in this country. Despite her flaws, I still can tell my friends that we have something nice in our society. If you can find those and stay away from those that not so nice, it can be a place where you can live happily and find happiness. Best of luck!

The algorithm sent me this way and I’m not mad 😂 just subscribed! I love your vlogging style and the editing is top notch. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your life- I have no interest in retiring early but I find it all very fascinating.

Excellent video. Shows how you can be at the lowest point in your life and still come out on top. Two questions, what job did you have? And also how old are you guys? Thanks again for the excellent video.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m sure this will help and inspire those with similar background. Can you share what dividend index funds that are providing you dividend income? Thx
@linda_and_tony20 күн бұрын
We used vfv and xqq (sp500 and nasdaq) with some individual stocks here and there to get to the number. Afterward we swapped portions of them to a mix of fixed income, dividend payer, and covered call etf. -Tony

@@linda_and_tonyWow, not familiar with covered call ETF. Will need to look that up.

are you working at all remotely, or fully retired?
@linda_and_tony13 күн бұрын
Currently we are not working but we are living off dividends from our investment

The story skips from starting to invest in early 20s directly to living in BKK off of dividend stocks. There is no connecting information. Hard to imagine that anyone else can find this useful. How much money can you possibly have to invest in your 20s? Must have gotten like 1000% returns with a very risky investment or a huge inheritance or something i guess?

It's amazing how much difference crazy bull runs of 2020-2021 and 23-24 makes. We aren't trying to give financial advice other than living below your means, know what's matter to you in your dream life. But thank you for your input!

@Onemadtony eh.. title is "9-5 to financial freedom". Didn't really deliver. You guys seem cool though, i think i would have enjoyed it if i wasn't expecting more from the title.
@Onemadtony16 күн бұрын
@@benbohohothanks! I guess the title can be interpret as a how to, but we just want it to be more of a telling our story kind of thing. Will keep that in mind tho!

You can use an compound interest calculator to see how much you need to invest and how long it'll take to save up. Say you plan to spend $2,000 a month USD, you'll need to save up $600K, with a 4% SWR (Safe Withdrawal Rate) to give you $24K a year. Put in $750 a month in an index fund (S&P 500), that's an average car payment in the USA and in 20 years, you'll have more than $600K. S&P500 has a historic average of 11% for the last 100 years. My personal investment averaged 17% for the last 25 years since I've invest heavily on tech stocks. Invest $1000 a month and you can retire in Bangkok in 17 years. That's the beauty of compound interest. Albert Einstein said "Compound interest is the eighth wounder of the world. He who understands it, earns it, He who doesn't, pays it."
