This week I have a super special treat for you all. My amazing friends Lisa and Scott have invited us into their home, a stunning converted 500-year-old olive mill in one of my favorite villages in the region, Bagnone.
We've coined a new phrase to describe the interior design and architectural style that they've put into place in this stunning home - medieval modern. I think that covers it perfectly!

Thanks for highlighting the "localness" of their approach to builders, craftsmen, plumbers, kitchen vendors, and so on. People think Americans will come in fast and hot, buy fancy fixtures in Milan and ship them in, and have some architect from Rome overseeing a big reno....but Lisa & Scott were smart enough to see that buying & renovating using ALL LOCAL is the most authentic opportunity to build a network in a new town and get a foothold in the community. This was a lightbulb moment for me. Grazie mille

Thanks so much. Let me just say that the final cost was very affordable. Lisa or Scott are welcome to comment. They just were not interested in sharing price and costs. But usually these types of commercial spaces are really well priced. I agree it would be nice to share pricing it's just I needed to respect their wishes. Thanks for your great comment. x

The issue for most is without an idea of costing we don’t know if it’s doable. What you think is inexpensive might not be the case for most.

How cool would it be to have a glass elevator going from the top floor to bottom but the largest bathroom in Italy is also pretty cool :) They could fit a jacuzzi tub in there (as only a fellow Californian would comment haha). I always love to keep it local with the treasure hunting and enjoyed hearing where they found certain items. Thanks for another great video!

Location / olive mill building / local venders / character of original building saved/ trash salvage WOW! Your video was like the final piece to the puzzle - to seal the deal on my 2024 purchasing in Italy. Can u give me an idea of the original cost of the building if the Mill…. AND the cost for the remodel? This will help me move forward in 2024! Praying for that old building “mill” find.
