Horrible choice of religion. You should have chosen The Way, The Truth and The Life. I went from atheist of 28 years to a follower of our Lord and Savior the only God, the living God Jesus of Nazareth. After I had a super natural experience with Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit, never did I see Allah or hear Muhammad. I heard Jesus and felt the Holy Spirit. ✝️ 🙏 the king of kings the lord of Lords Yeshua Hamashiach will return soon and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, in heaven on earth and under the earth that Jesus Christ is Lord.

That’s a very insightful question. You’re asking whether the people who lived with Jesus, his companions, family members like James, Mary, and Peter, knew more about Jesus and how they understood him compared to modern Christians who believe in the Trinity. From a Christian perspective, we believe that Jesus’ disciples and his family knew him intimately, but the understanding of Jesus’ full identity as both the Son of God and part of the Trinity was gradually revealed. According to Christian belief, early followers of Jesus, especially after his resurrection, came to realize that he was not just a prophet or a righteous man, but God incarnate. In the New Testament, especially after the resurrection, there are references to Jesus being worshipped, and over time, the early church came to understand that Jesus was more than the Messiah - he was divine. Peter, for example, in Matthew 16:16, declares, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” This statement was understood as affirming Jesus’ unique relationship with God. Now, you’re also referring to the Nazarites, who were early Jewish Christians, some of whom followed James, the brother of Jesus. Indeed, there is historical evidence that groups like the Ebionites or Nazarites saw Jesus as the Messiah but did not necessarily believe in the divinity of Jesus the way Christians do today. Some scholars argue that these early Jewish Christians viewed Jesus as a prophet and a servant of God, which is more in line with the Islamic view of Jesus as a messenger, not divine. As Christianity spread beyond the Jewish community, the understanding of Jesus’ divinity became more emphasized, especially among Gentile Christians. The Council of Nicaea (325 CE) solidified the doctrine of the Trinity, affirming Jesus as fully divine and co-eternal with the Father, but this was a development that took place after the time of the apostles. Islamic Perspective: From an Islamic standpoint, this would seem to align more with the original teachings of Jesus’ companions and family. Islam holds that Jesus (Isa, peace be upon him) was indeed the Messiah, a messenger of God, and not divine. The Quran emphasizes that Jesus was a servant of Allah, a miraculous birth, but fully human, as captured in Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:116), where Jesus himself will deny any claim to divinity on the Day of Judgment. In answering your question directly: Muslims believe that the original followers of Jesus saw him as a prophet, not as divine, and that this aligns with the Nazarites or early Jewish Christians who did not hold to the later doctrine of the Trinity. The belief in the Trinity, from an Islamic view, was a later innovation that does not reflect the original message of Jesus or his companions. Would you agree that this divergence in belief about Jesus’ nature could have developed after his time, or do you see it as something Jesus directly taught during his lifetime?

Alhamdulilah! As a Muslim, I love Jesus (peace be upon him). I just believe he was sent as a prophet.
