Jesus, you’d think they were 2-10 every year. They’ve been the pinnacle of Mediocre since 2007 but in no way are they a gutter program. They went 7-6 last year beating a Top 25 team in their bowl. You would literally think BC averages 1-2 wins per year.. They are consistently mediocre, not great but not bad. Bill O’Brien should get them back to being a consistent Top 25 program now that they spend more than most football programs in the ACC.

Not picking Steve Logan to replace Coach Jags was the biggest mistake in BC history. As I stated before, Steve Logan was the brains behind BC’s stellar offense in 2007 and helped develop Chris Crane into a decent QB in 2008. Coach Jags was fired in pre season by the Buccaneers because his strategy was very vanilla, he was nothing without Logan. There’s a reason Jags was never offered to be a head coach in college football again.

You have to be a certain age to even remember a time where BC used to not only be somewhat good but send a lot of good players to the pros almost every season for a little bit. The Big East in the late 90s and Early 2000s was pretty deep. Outside of them Pitt, WVU, and Syracuse were pretty good programs that had a bunch of players become NFL starters. Of course you also had Miami and VT at their peak
@Chris-tq1jy5 ай бұрын
Boston College is ranked #8 in CFB as far as Highest cap hit per college in the NFL. BC players in the NFL rank higher than Ohio State and Michigan. I bet that’s a surprise fact you didn’t know and that’s with Matt Ryan no longer in the NFL.
@brandonconforto3155 ай бұрын
@@Chris-tq1jy no i didn’t know that but from 1999 to 2009 they had 8 first round draft picks, since then they have only had 5. They had 4 first round draft picks from 1999-2003. That tells you the drop off they had after the 2000s. Interesting enough since 2009 most of those draft picks have been in the past few years so i am surprised they weren’t better. I guess you can blame coaching on that since they had a run of good coaches in the 90s and 2000s

As a BC fan, I’m excited for what Bill O’Brien can do. Thomas Castellanos is a playmaker at QB. If BOB can control the gunslinger a bit, TC will be good. We are set at RB with Robo and Ward. This year will be tough with the schedule, but I do think BC is on the way up.
@mccarthystrachan64733 ай бұрын
Coaching matters for sure, but having a QB in college is huge. Matt Ryan was spectacular. BC is one of those odd sized schools that will never be able to compete with recruiting. I think AJ Dillon committed to Michigan in high school, got injured, and switched to BC. Now with NIL deals, it will only get so much harder. BC had to pay Zay Flowers to stay and props to him for doing so. I think Castellanos and O'Brien are a combo that can make some magic and provide memorable moments, but if BC is unable to recruit another QB the program will always flounder. BC has always had a great run game thanks to power backs and a prolific o line, and always had a scrappy defense. I swear, under Addazio, the defense scored more than the offense did. But the quality of QB's in college drops off fast. Jurkovec was good till he got hurt, but outside of him there hasn't been a qb since Ryan. Before Ryan, Hasselbeck, and then Flutie. Only way out is through, and I think the program just might be through. For Boston!
