It’s not so much that Jimbo was running an overly complicated offense. He was running the same Pro Set offense that had been deemed almost as ineffective as the Wing T a decade ago because most every DC had figured it out. It looked complicated because Jimbo graduated from the Tom Landry School of Offense: run twelve plays out of thirty different formations. Hence, the four Denny’s menus he always had in his hands. Fun fact: A&M was the only school in the country running the Pro Set offense from 2021 onward. He was loathe to adapt and change up his offensive philosophy. I saw hope in the Aggie fanbase when Petrino came in, but there was a lot of groaning when they saw it was more of the same because he was basically a good will hire and never allowed to do what was necessary. I didn’t complain as an LSU fan, but it was painful to watch a program with so much potential bursting at the seams just flatline.

@TylerEubank lol, i follow recruiting. We've already heard they had meetings with all their recruits. They pay players, they have paid recruits, and you don't think you pay to keep recruits after you fire your coach? The stories are already out there, but you're an aggie, so you think everything is fine even when the house around you is burning down.

No one believed me when i said it was a huge mistake to hire Jimbo. He was inconsistent at Florida State, though he was an excellent recruiter. He really left a lot to be desired from his in-game coaching. He was terrible at making adjustments. And also would bicker with fans. When he left FSU, i told A&M fans that he might beat Alabama every once in a while, but they'd never win a title with him. FSU's title was more about how insanely talented the team was as well as their weak schedule.

Not even mad at the App St. and Miami game. Those were his nails in the coffin. With Elko and Co. things are looking pretty good so far coming off a win at Florida in his first road game, to that end, we MAY have given Florida a blessing in having Napier fired. Fisher was sub .500 after Elko left and his last road win was with Elko as DC. Lets see where things go.

Jimbo is the perfect example of someone who needs to be on the rise. Without that hunger, he's mediocre once he's reached the 'peak'. I think this would have also happened had he stayed at FSU. As an FSU fan, it was a rocky road, but they were fortunate to be rid of him.

I remember when they left for the SEC people were naturally talking about how teams like Bama, LSU, Georgia and Auburn would be eating them for breakfast. Then the Manziel season happened and their fans were looking pretty smug then they fell back to earth and the only time I've heard from them since was when they cried persecution complex at being left out of the 2020 playoff

Everyone in the SWC who could paid players and every program who is still “relevant” spends billions on football. The Longhorns certainly pay players and are continual disappointments for the expenditures they eat every year and Ohio State fans are getting antsy. This is likely partly why the playoffs were expanded so much. The Fisher hire is something that had worked in the past, the poaching of Pitt’s Jackie Sherrill, but did not work again. This is the era of big spending and big spenders will remain relevant in this new expanded playoff. I guess the creator is angry about his alma mater not having money.
