What I was used to as a common strumming pattern was DDU UDU. This one strumming pattern took me by surprise, but I love it, and I had to really work at it. So when you added those / chords in, I had to take a moment. After a couple of days of practice, I finally got it. I’ve loved this song since I was a little girl and I’m 75 now so thank you for the way that you presented this one. I really love it.

As a general rule, I find your simple-to-complex approach fantastic, especially when I'm trying to figure out the timing of the complex version of any given song, but you kind of left me hanging on this one. If only you'd played the slash chord version of the verse through slowly from start to finish, as you later did the chorus, getting the timing down would have been a thousand times easier.

I picked up a guitar this year, at 35 (sorry), as a way to relax. Then I decided to try charming my girlfriend, through learning songs that she knows and loves. She loves Dylan. So I pretended to aloofly practice Knockin on Heaven's Door, until finally I could play it comfortably. I know now that it is an extremely simple song. But she pretended to be pleased. I am not *that* wet behind the ears, however... Thus I know she is not impressed by the tune. But--- I think this is the ticket!! Us two are apart, for a month, across the ocean, and I can now practice this all month. And then, reunited, I will play it, and give her eyes some little extra sparkle. Your tutorials and your presence have warmed my past few months, sir. Great teacher. Thank you.
