Great video Glenn. I used to watch meteor showers all the time in my younger years, it's been quite a while since I've seen one though. One of my fondest memories was seeing a spectacular display while on holiday with my folks back in 1982 (showing my age now!) as there was a brief period where the meteor rate was extremely high. A lot of people at the resort we were staying at were outside having a look at it was so unusual to see such an event. Never seen anything like it since unfortunately.

That sounds like an excellent experience Pete. The Geminids was a good excuse to pull up a chair and sit back and soak in the starry night sky. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Had a great time and will be searching out more for the future. Clear skies

Looked like a great night out with plenty of food and coffee.... oh and meteors too. My meteor camera certainly picked up a lot around the time of the Geminids shower. Clear skies

Hi Logan and thanks mate, we had a great night. Did you capture the meteors and will you be sharing it? An all sky camera is on my to do list but also a cloud and rain monitor....going to have to decide soon.

Great video, Glenn. It was a superb night and who would have thought that gap was the last clear sky we’d see for nearly 4 weeks! Really glad you enjoyed it and looking forward to more meteor goodness in the future. 👍

It was great to meet you Paul and look forward to meeting up again. We were so lucky to get that large gap so we could enjoy the sky and yes ever since its been awful. Clear skies

Great video Glenn, and a great adventure! I think I’ll setup my DSLR in video mode outside next time we have a meteor shower. One of my CCTV cameras is aimed skyward so I can see the current weather, clouds etc. Occasionally I have trawled back through a night’s recording and caught a few bright meteors. Besides using the DLSR in video mode I might try 10 second exposures to stack for multiple streaks. Happy New Year Glenn!

Hi Kevan and thank you. We had a fun night and I really enjoyed just sitting there for a few hours just watching the stars. We left the DSLR’s to do their thing with timelapses etc but as you most probably saw, even though we all had dew straps not one of us remembered to put them on……yet another lesson learnt. Clear skies and happy New Year.

@@Astrobloke Yes I saw the group error of the dew straps Glenn 😁 When we don’t image for a while or try something different there is always something we forget.
