As always Glenn, a lovely video!! I'm in Xante for a week, reminiscing on my last holiday before my wife passed away in 2021. The skies are really clear here, but I have no equipment apart from my phone! Going to try taking some pics tonight, guess I'll leave the phone on a table, pointing as close to North as I can get and take a long video! Is that the best I can do??

Thank you Jeremy. I hope you are having a lovely time mate and having some good memories. There are apps you can download for your phone, I have an iphone with nightcap app on it. Has startrail and other settings. you can get some good images with a phone with a little patience. good luck mate and happy hols.

I have some problems with the mount: sometimes it disconnects, it turns off completely. I noticed, when dismantling it, that if I tighten the screws completely it turns off, while if I unscrew them slightly it turns on. there must be a contact problem but I have no idea where to look. the app and the firmware are updated. Many thanks
@Astrobloke
@Astrobloke 12 күн бұрын
Thats annoying for you. When You tighten the screws are they flexing the circuit board? There could be a hairline break in one of the connections. Thats a tough fault to find and fix. Is it under warranty?
@AleMec1
@AleMec1 10 күн бұрын
@@Astrobloke Thanks for the reply. unfortunately it was purchased second hand and I realized this defect late. in the next few days I will do some tests to understand if there are any circuits out of place. If you have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. have a nice day!

Watched your video on polar aligning with Nina and had success. Three point polar aligned and then plate solved for the first time. But then asked it to slew to a Target and it pointed at the floor. The target was way above the horizon. Any ideas. Many thanks
@Astrobloke
@Astrobloke 12 күн бұрын
Hi and thanks. Double check that you have the location of longitude and latitude set correctly in Nina and Eqmod (or whichever ascom platform you are using). Thats definitely behaviour that would be caused by that

Love that green accent on the scope. I got a little 60mm refractor. Lug enough gear around on trips and you quickly start to shop smaller. When I get to a dark sky spot, I can easily bring a small scope, camera, mount + tripod, tent, and a chair in my trunk and be setup pretty quickly without breaking a sweat.
@Astrobloke

Hello Glen hope you had a nice break, good review again, very interesting little tracker with the z mount, it handled the DSLR well it would be interesting to see how it performs with my Samsung mirrorless and stock 18-55mm lens, it weights only about 10oz all in, and it was a great shock about Alyn my thoughts and wishes go to his family, I am surprised no one set up a just giving page for him, a great loss to the astro community

Had a wonderful break thank you. Its a great travel set up and would be perfect for your camera and lens. I had the mirrorless EOS R and 24-105mm lens on it and also used the canon 6D with samyang 14mm and both were tracked and supported as they should. It was extremely sad about Alyn he was such a source of knowledge and inspiration, he will be missed.
