In 1856 during the Great Potato Famine my maternal great grandfather, James McCoy (aged 17 at the time) along with his older brother John (aged 23) and sister Mary (aged 12) left their home in Birr and migrated to Adelaide, South Australia. In 1865 my paternal great grandfather Zakhia Abraham and his brother Anton migrated from the village of Kfarsghab, Syria (now Lebanon) to Adelaide. In 2009 I walked in their footsteps. On the 25th of April 2020 I was due to fly out of Adelaide to visit Birr. CoVid halted all overseas travel. I dearly hope to travel to the town of my maternal ancestors in 2022 and also walk in their footsteps. So looking forward to meeting you all. What an amazing life we experience on this mere speck of dust in our vast universe. Love has no borders and is infinite.
