From brush to open road: Clearing a road on the homestead by hand

Join us for a hands-on adventure as we clear a road by hand on our homestead. No heavy machinery, just good old-fashioned hard work using elbow grease, determination and a few basic tools. Watch as my son and I tackle the challenge head-on, clearing brush and getting covered in dust. With each swing of the pick axe and every step forward, we're building up our homestead into our forever home and restoring the land. Tamakoa Homestead is a journey that will result in bare land being transformed into a fully self-sustaining ecosystem where humans and animals live in harmony. To be able to build up our homestead we need to make sure we have roads and access paths and this video is one of the most important roads we need - the road to our first tiny house that we will be building by hand and by ourselves. Without access to this road we will constantly be needing to zig-zag through the thick brush, increasing our risk of snake encounters.
Come join me and my son as we spend the day on the homestead swinging our pick axes and hoes to clear out a road and come share the feeling of accomplishment with us as we complete the road clearing project.

Ja, nearly 60 years ago. A double rondavel in Zimbabwe, with thatched roof. Had to leave it all behind for a better future in Oz 40 years ago. Can read Afriks and speak a little but fail on writing. Parents both Afrikaans.
