Hey writers, the mystery is absolutely as important as the character drama. Not everything needs a concrete answer, it's okay to leave some mystery when it does end, but you should definitely not discredit the mystery factor. If you need to bring in other writers to speculate ideas to blow our minds with some answers, definitely don't be afraid to do that, but definitely don't just finish the show with a big "We will never know" to most of the mystery.
@beck27492 ай бұрын
I know right, the show is super slow as it is, like a slow burner is a huge understatement and they wanted to make it progress even slower apparently, 2 episodes of season 3 down and we still don’t know the most basic of questions, like what is this place, where is this place, who are smileys?🤦🏻♂️ I just hope it’s gonna be different from the Lost…

I think he just admitted right there that we aren’t going to get answers to anything
@varkster68602 ай бұрын
@@gregkeener911 No, he said he has a roadmap for when to give answers, and that roadmap is everchanging. He's trying to explain that the mystery of it all is a good hook to get audiences invested but the real heart of the show is the character drama. While the mystery is great, when it's answered it will effectively be received with one of two things, either the audience goes "yeah that's cool" and moves on, or the audience goes "oh, well that was disappointing" and moves on. The heart of the show is the character drama because that will be what sticks with people at the end, I don't wake up in a nightmare town every morning with monsters roaming about but I definitely can relate to a character shouting outside of a house in denial because their relative passed away.
@Huckle7772 ай бұрын
@@varkster6860 That is just bullshit though.. The heart of the show IS THE MYSTERY, through and through. Their is barely any character drama in the show? Idk where he got that from. Most of the characters are not that interesting and there has barely been ANY character development that you would see in a character drama. He kinda just disappointed me massively....
@varkster6860Ай бұрын
@@Huckle777 The writer of the show is telling you the show is primarily about the characters. I really don't know how to tell you why what you're saying is plain wrong. He "got that" from writing the show. It is HIS show and his intention to write it as a character drama. I don't understand the question of where he "got that from"??? My point is that the showrunners have an intention in what effect they want to stick to the audience when airing the show. Whether this lands for the viewers is strongly up to the viewers themselves. If the character drama isn't that interesting, the show might just not be for you? Half of the entire show is characters in a room talking to each other and dealing with loss, grief and being put into impossible situations. All of the characters are vastly different and deal with everything differently. I really don't even know how to argue this point because to me it's baffling how someone can not consider this show a character drama? Yes it has a mystery/horror hook with tropes present from both of those genres, but drama is 90% of the show.
@Chrissy-el8gz2 ай бұрын

I love this show, my wife and I watch it religiously. But when I hear the creators say that the show isn’t about the mysteries, I fear that they’re going to fall right back into the same problems they had with Lost and how that series ended up. That’s a whole other discussion that I’m not gonna crack open here in regards to Lost and it’s ending. I won’t speak for all the fans of shows like this. I will only speak for myself as a voracious fan. The mysteries surrounding the show are the carrots that keep us moving forward. While mysteries aren’t everything in regards to the show. I love the way this show handles mystery. If you’re approaching it with a Modernist mindset, driven by a compulsive need for certainty-where curiosity is about finding solutions and closing doors-you might not get the payoff you’re expecting. It’s bold of them to state upfront that the mystery itself isn't what’s central. Curiosity seeks answers to resolve something, but wonder opens us up to awe, where every answer deepens the mystery. In that sense, the show feels like a Zen Koan, inviting us to sit with the unknown rather than solve it.

To that I say if true that the show runner can get Lost because we deserve answers and details otherwise it's just lazy writing and I'm not impressed.

It's a picket universe like Stranger Things' upside down. Government will be aware of it. The sign Jade sees everywhere is a weapon activated by blood, for eg. The tree vision and also boulder visio. This can be used against the monsters to trap them and weaken them so to kill them somehow. But as Martin said, they are just the tip of the spear, so once they are gone there are more levels to go. The current group are just the latest round of people trapped there going back at least 600 years hence all the old structures. All the voices, visions and dreams are messages on how to win the game and get out.

The biggest reason this show isn’t massive is because of the platform. Prime or Netflix it would be massive. Good on MgM on funding this show and I hope they pump out quality like this.

Where’s the guy that plays Kenny? LOVE this show so much! Harold is the best! I remember him in Romeo and Juliet and Lost. He’s my fav!! He’s iconic and every character he plays is memorable bc of his performance! Stellar actor! And From is the best tv show that people don’t know about. So underrated! They need to get something going to stream on Netflix to gain the viewership and go viral! More eyes on this show!

I told my wife that we should just watch a recap because I thought it was negatively affecting my mental health, but she got mad about ruining our movie time, so we keep watching.

Just finished Season 3, incredible. If anyone is a fan of One Piece, this is the closest to the level of mysteries/questions in One Piece. Needing those answers keeps me going😭

In my theory, the man in yellow killed Jim because he was too smart. He helped figure out the biggest mystery within seconds. Which btw jade brainstormed for weeks/months . The man in yellow couldn't let him live any longer. Because jim's doing something right that no one has ever done. It made him come directly and kill him.

When Eion Bailey, the actor who plays Jim, was talking about the resilience of the characters, how they always get back up again, I wonder if he knew that his character was going to die?
