@@surfthechaos all of them! I have a k70 and a few pentax limited lens, a Q with with 10 lens for it, the mint spotmatic that i found on ebay for $60, and the beefy 67. I had an IST-D that i picked up from KEH here in Atlanta, that was listed as-is for $20 in great external condition, it needed a memory card under 2gb to to operable, ended up giving that one to a cousin. The K70 kit is great, but ive taken the Q more places because of its size, the 67 is just awesome to hold, I take a picture with it every once in a while, and the Spot is basically brand new and very pretty, the meter is wonky and 1/2/4/8 shutter speed the shutter sticks up and it needs a CLA🙂👍

Pricing here is not so bad, works out to about $560 usd. 🥲 Shipping to Australia is expensive

As the pieces fell into place around launch and I saw some quality negative scans I started getting excited and ordered one last week in Brisbane. Day 1 the store had it at $849 (showing $50 disc) then day 2 after release it went back to $899 but includes 10 rolls of C41 process and scan. That’s worth about $180. That’s real encouragement just to go out and shoot film. I’ve got plenty of rolls in the fridge. For 35mm film I normally shoot a Pentax MX (I’ve got a bunch of primes including the FA Limiteds that work on it) and a 50s Leica IIIf which is slow to work with but a classic piece of history. I’m totally good with the half frame portrait format of the Pentax 17. The lens appears sharp and after all it’s not trying to compete with the resolution of modern digital cameras. It’s about all the things that go with the film experience. The tactile experience of the manual controls is all there but done in such a light way and sensible way that street photographers can get fast shots easily and those new to film can get the tactile involvement without a steep learning curve and can expect a high hit rate which isn’t always true of film. I love diptych story telling and honestly the half frame portrait format is just so exciting for that. Even though I don’t have the camera yet, I’m walking around and seeing so many diptych opportunities that it’s got my creative brain in fast forward! I’ve been shooting for 40yr and love new ways of seeing things We’ve got a family wedding at the start of August that will be perfect to take it long to and take casual photos. Can’t wait.

100% some of the Melbourne suppliers are offering film and dev i believe too. Exciting times! To be honest im totally on board with half frame haha i used to have a 110 camera and loved that thing even though its negs are absolutely tiny 😂 if your getting decent scans done at the lab half frame shouldn’t be any issue. Good luck shooting the wedding i reckon the pentax will be ace 📸

I would totally buy one! As for the half frame, the work on show at the event all looked great, Hillvale picked a group of local photographers to test the cameras out and I couldn’t fault it, check out some of the work via there instagram. instagram.com/hillvalephoto
