i want to clarify, i appreciate so much u guys weren't put off by the length of the first video but my concerns about the length are more for my own sake. i made my first video so long simply because i just had that much to say! i didn't set out to make an hour video, it just ended up that way, and as i was actually filming and editing i realized that it was a lot more work than i anticipated with the length of script i wrote lol. so, I'm not saying i will NEVER upload an hour long video again, but i can't do it every time because it's hard

Whats really sad about John is he made the attempt to leave behind his run and gun lifestyle, and he did for a while, but his ties to that past unfortunately sent him back into it, no matter how much he changed he couldn't escape the consequences of being an infamous outlaw in the most infamous gang, the same is true of Abigail and Jack. Even if he became a raw pacifist the moment he fled the gangs breakup it wouldn't have mattered, and it's not really his fault either, he's part of the old world, and the world is changing, there's no room for men like John anymore,even though John changed, end of RDR1 Dutch was letting John know that at his last moment, he realized he can't escape fate. Their destiny was set in stone the moment they followed Dutch when they were younger.

I feel the proposal and wedding is what Arthur's sacrifice was about. He didn't stay on that mountain holding off the pinkertons JUST so John can survive, no, he stayed behind so John can LIVE! That's what it was all about, even before this point that's what the stated goal of the gang was. I always remember that talk before they go to Six Point Cabin when talking about the differences between the VDL Gang and the O'driscolls John's main distinction is that the O'driscolls are only trying to survive, while the Van Der Linde's are trying to live, free! And now he and his family at least can, because of an act of love from Arthur. I know that John going after Micah is eventually what ruins him, what leads to RDR1 but i cant blame John. If i had someone like Arthur, someone who did everything he could with his dying breaths to make sure I can live a life I wasnt able to before, Id want revenge for him too. I'll always tear up during Arthur's final moments, but the real sobbing is during the proposal and wedding, its what all that struggle was about, just those two beautiful moments

Another banger. I feel like I’m the only one who enjoys playing epilogue part 1 hahah. There was so much fighting between John and Abigail in the main game, but getting to be in it (instead of just catching glimpses as Arthur) is so rewarding. I feel the same way you do where I can sympathize with John, but I will defend Abigail til my dying breath. On my first playthrough I cried when Arthur died, but on every subsequent playthrough it’s John’s proposal that makes tear up. It’s THE payoff. In a game with so much pain there’s this one beautiful moment, and I know Arthur would be so happy that he spent his last moments making sure such a thing could happen. Would be happy to see more content from you. Fallout 4 as well c:

It's almost 4 AM where I live, but I saw this before sleeping and I just had to watch. Great follow-up, it made me go thru the emotions I felt for John as the epilogue unfolded. The epilogue shows how Dutch and Hosea's parenting on John made him ill-equipped to a world outside the gang and a society thats more hostile to outlaws. The world they raised him in also really stunted his growth, which we've seen glimpses of in Chapters 1 & 2 thru Arthur's. I like how you went through John and Abigail's perspectives and traced John's growth until he realized he had to truly go all-in on his family.

I’ve see allot of hate for their characters even though their actions and presentation makes sense and is totally reasonable considering the lives they’ve lived. I love that RDR2 puts so much detail and complexity into the writing of the characters and the dynamics between them, really goes far to make them feel like believable people who struggle finding a place in the new world. I’d love to hear your opinions on Sadie Adler if that’s something you’d have interest in talking about. Keep up the good work!

Yeah people hating Abigail are weird. It's pretty damn obvious why she's always yelling at John, she doesn't want Jack to die or grow up completely without a father. Plus, if John died, being a single, uneducated woman with a child back then would either mean becoming a working girl or ending up dead. And Jack is a kid who basically grew up with no dad and no friends.

I don't even count RDR2 John as canon, they ruined him in RDR2. In RDR1 he implies several times that he was even more ruthless and angry in his gang days, and in RDR2 we see him do nothng but whine, being mocked by everyone for some reason and coming up with scores that turn out to be a bust. Dutch also was dumbed down for the sake of sending the gang into a downhill path in a forced way, like trusting Bronte's lead on robbing the trolley station. It was such an obvious set up, that no matter how desperate for a chance for a good score Dutch was, there was no way he'd believe it, before doing it he says "we need money, Bronte says this place has got money"... like.. what??

It's great seeing you make more RDR content. What frustrates me about John is how many chances he got, and he blew them all. Because he has to show everyone what a bad badass he is. Screw you John, get real. He has a wife who stays with him no matter what, an amazing wife who is able and willing to steer him in the right direction. He has a kid, a good-natured and intelligent boy who could do something with his life, despite his dead beat dad. He got a ranch because his former boss pulled strings for a bank to give him credit. And what does he do? First he flirts with danger by using paper thin disguises and aliases, and then goes full in by hunting down Micah. Saying that this is for Arthur, although he knew very well that Arthur didn't want him to ruin his life like that. No, what he did wasn't for Arthur, it was for John Marston. Sorry for the long rant. I still love John, you know, he's a great protagonist, and his intentions are not malicious. But, oh, is he far from perfect.

I replayed rdr1 after beating rdr2, i really liked arthur hell even more than john after rdr2, but replaying rdr1 made me realize that john is who i like better. John and arthur are 2 very different people, and redeem themselves in different ways. A good way to show how they are different is how they died. Arthurs was slow and cinematic, and in a way peaceful. But johns was cruel and quick and we knew john was promised to live out his life, while Arthurs fate was sealed from the start. But then again can john really undo years of crime? Johns death makes you think what should have been, while arthur is what could have been.

I find myself not talking a whole bunch about Arthur simply because what is there to say that hasnt been already, you know. I love him, and do want to talk about him but I have sooo much to say about John who feels like an untapped wealth for analysis lol

I love these analyses videos! I’m hoping for a Arthur analysis next or maybe a closer look into Milton as he really isn’t as one dimensional as you would think he is

Fallout 4 was SUCH a big interest of mine for like over 4 years, rdr2 second best, I would LOVE it if you made videos over the characters in that game they mean the world to me

My only complaint is not going into RDR1 I get spoilers but the majority here wouldn't care that much and I believe that if it had its own section with a spoiler warning then it would go over fine. Don't worry about length I would watch a vid as long as endgame Abt this game
@pinkygunslingy Жыл бұрын
The real reason is less spoilers and more making videos with long scripts is a lot of work. I didn't think many people would be spoiled but truth be told, these videos aren't easy and once you've been recording for a couple hours, it gets tiring. so i cut it short
@literallymordecai Жыл бұрын
@@pinkygunslingythanks for replying I understand that completely. Looking forward to new videos about RDR2 characters and maybe videos about RDR1 exclusive characters like Landon Rickets. id bet a Red Harlow Video would also be really interesting. :)

Longer videos are becoming big af on KZbin even with the longer video I assume you have to script something like this your writing or just speaking is great and you’re funny as hell don’t stop making videos

I came here from the Dutch video and MAN I love your videos so much! I can’t wait to watch your future videos to come, and I love the long format videos as well :)

Yess, finally!! So excited. Edit: So, finished the vid. I admit, I was expecting more than just an epilogue talk and didn't hear nuch new stuff, like ti was with Dutch, but I still appreciate how good you are at putting it simply and with humour. And, obviously, I understand how hard and laborous it would be to make a full-full John analysis from bith games, which might as well be a longer video, considering he has more to be talked about than Dutch, even if it's just reitersting points the game already made pretty clear. Thank you for the video!

i find on tiktok i am told a LOT that people just don't like or understand what the epilogue does for john's character, and someone had mentioned in the comments that they'd like to hear a breakdown so that's what this is all about! plus, like you said, a full fledged analysis (which is still something i'd like to do in the future) is a pretty big task! and i would like to be able to upload videos more than just once every month and a half haha
@trashmouthcharley Жыл бұрын
@@pinkygunslingy Yess, it is a big problem I noticed, even though it's a pretty clean cut character, epilogue seems to confuse people the most. Maybe because of still being hung uo on Arthur by the time you play epilogue or just less attention since the game feels "finished", but usually if a person plays rdr2 b4 rdr1 they seem to just... not pay attention? Anyway, I was wondering, do you alr have idea for the next video or is it to be announced?
