At this point, George Clooney was a tv heartthrob, considered a charming romantic lead. He blows this performance out of the water! He's terrifying and hard-boiled, but principled. George Clooney is a BRILLIANT actor.

I was in prison for 13 years, and I met a lot of sex offenders. Some got railroaded on stupid charges, and some were like Richie. They believed their victims made advances they didn't, and had feelings for them they didn't. I don't know if it's a separate sickness from what their crimes indicate, but there's definitely something wrong there. Sex Machine was played by Tom Savini, who's a genius with special effects and makeup (primarily gore).

Quick story: I had FREE TICKETS to this movie as a pre-screening, a a radio station put up, that a friend that worked there gave me. NO ONE KNEW WHAT THE MOVIE WAS ABOUT! We saw no trailers or anything. We only knew Tarantino was involved and this was not long after Pulp Fiction blew up, and my friend and I were GIANT fans of his, so we see the movie, and there was a couple in front of us, and when the scene of Cheech barking about all the pu**y they had, the gf/wife got mad and didn't want to watch anymore and they got into a fight, because he wanted to stay, so she ended up leaving and he left like 5 mins later, and they never came back LOL!!

This movie is filled with supporting characters played by action and horror film royalty. Actors like John Saxon and Fred Williamson, effects guys Tom Savini and Greg Nicotero (the guy Sex Machine steals the beer from), Rodriguez regulars Salma Hayek and Danny Trejo... such an amazing cast! Clooney was known for good guy type of characters at this point, so his playing someone as extreme as Seth Gecko was very much playing against type for him. Cheech Marin's three roles are fun, especially the guy at the door, with his legendary "pussy" speech. Blame all of the foot stuff on Tarantino. He's a foot fetishist in real life.

For what is for the most part, a pretty cheezy vampire movie, George Clooney's character is by far, one of the most bad ass characters in movie history. He's so good that even after the movie ends you just wish you could follow his character around some more just to see how he interacts with everything and everyone. And one of the cooler things about this movie is thru out the whole thing, you only just see a hint of this tattoo that he's sporting. And its not until the very end, that he reveals this seriously kick ass tribal tattoo going all the way down his arm. (pretty disappointed that y'all cut out that part and the part where it reveals the extent of the structure that the Titty Twister is built upon.)

It's two different films because Quentin Tarantino wrote the first half and Robert Rodriguez wrote the Vampire portion at the Titty Twister. The long blonde haired guy that threatens Tom Savini with a knife, that's Greg Nicotero, also a big time practical effects and creature creator.

Tom Savini himself was a Practical effects specialist, working on Night of the Living Dead and others.

NICE!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Saw this with my family on VHS a year after it's release and didn't expect to see vampire twist! The film was box office and critical success, and has garnered a huge fanbase all over the world. There was a TV series based on the movie, which served as a soft reboot, starring DJ Cotrona ad Seth, Zane Holt as Richie, Robert Patrick as Jacob, Don Johnson as Sheriff McGraw, and Wilmer Valderrama as Carlos. It even shows you the origins of the vampires, where they came from, and why they are here. It was cancelled after 3 seasons and 30 episodes.

The first half of the movie with the brothers was filmed by Quentin Tarantino and the second half at the Titty Twister with the vampires was filmed by Robert Rodriguez. That's why it feels like two different movies, it kind of is. You guys should do Sin City next if you haven't done it. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller and it's great.

No the whole thing was directed by Robert Rodriguez. It was written by Quentin Tarantino.

The blonde haired guy that Sex Machine steals the beer from is Greg Nicotero, who is the special effects artist for this movie, The Walking Dead series, and tons of other stuff.

Quentin Tarantino's character in this film is exactly how I would expect someone who looks like Quentin Tarantino to act. But people who go into this movie just thinking it's a robbery movie until like halfway through get one hell of a surprise with fucking vampires hahaha

Great fun. I see Tom Savini mentioned a lot as Sex Machine and for his special effects work. Rightly so. But the dude he steals the beer off is Greg Nicotero, also an incredible special effects artist, with credits on the likes of Day of the Dead, Evil Dead II, Misery, Army of Darkness, Pulp Fiction, Scream, The Green Mile, Minority Report, Cabin Fever, Kill Bill, Sin City, Serenity... and of course, From Dusk till Dawn.
