I love how Seth and Jacob don’t like each other, but are willing to put their differences aside to fight a common enemy. In this case, vampires. I also love Seth’s speech to Jacob about how he’s their best chance against the vamps, and how Jacob accepts that responsibility. Plus, there’s something funny about Jacob censoring himself.

What I like most is that during filming, the script originally had Harvey Keitel's character simply being consumed by the creatures, and he flat out said to Rodriguez, "I want to be a vampire too," so he augmented it so that he could have a moment as well. It illustrates that even some of the most respected actors in the business want to cut loose and play.

This is, easily, one of my personal top ten movies ever. Tarantino as screenplayer and Rodriguez directing it´s a magic combo!! The story, the characters (Clooney & Quentin as Gecko bros are awesome). The music, scenes, narration... many entertaining stuff. Enjoyable as hell. Sex Machine, Richie with its psychopath moments, Salma´s dance, the fight agains the vampires... a huge amount of surreal and fun moments.
@phillipribbink69033 ай бұрын
Sex Machine was played by the famous Horror Special Effects/Make Up Artist Tom Savini, the Sultan of Splatter himself. Savini is most famous for his work on director George Romero's Of the Dead movies. And even directed a remake of Romero's Night of the Living Dead in the 90s. Savini served in the Vietnam War as a combat photographer (he basically did what Joker from Fullmetal Jacket did) for the Army Signal Corps. He saw a lot of messed up stuff which later informed his art as a make-up artist when he returned to the States. Savini later said that making horrible gore and disgusting monsters was his way of processing the stuff in he saw in 'Nam.
@scottneil11873 ай бұрын

He had a copy of the movie Troy but someone recorded it for him on a VHS tape, and he was only rocking DVD ..so while it was just us two we watched it on my jankie ass VCR. lol Good times. I love how the movie goes completely sideways in the middle! It reminds me of staying up late on weekends watching B-Movies on a program called (Movies til Dawn). Back in the 1970's in Los Angeles TV went off the air between midnight to around 5am. Sun-Thur. On Fri & Sat they could afford to show low budget movies when the station would normally be closed over-night. The writing budgets & production value were so low that any movie could wander off in random ass directions about halfway in, so I really appreciate the random ass turn from crime drama to vampire movie. Quentin moved with his mother to Torrance, California, when he was four years old. He must of been a fan of (Movies til Dawn).

@@scottneil1187 LOL! Actually by the time this movie was released, (a) Ads for movies played on TV EXTREMELY FREQUENTLY. If you watched primetime TV, you definitely saw an ad for this movie! Also cable TV was common by '96, so yes, there was 24/7 media bombardment! (b) There were SEVERAL DEDICATED MOVIE REVIEW TV SHOWS, like "At the Movies" with Gene Siskal and Roger Ebert that EVERYONE WATCHED. Morning talk shows and news shows on radio and TV also had movie review segments. (c) People ACTUALLY DID READ THE NEWSPAPERS in the 90's. Unless you were a 5 year old being dragged to the movies by your parents or older siblings, you actually did read them, because who wants to waste money on a lame film. (d) If you went to the movie theater to see a similar film at the time, you DEFINITELY saw a trailer. (e) While KZbin didn't exist, the world wide web did! Movies had official websites by then, which people visited. (f) Oh yes, and then there were the posters hanging outside of the theater.....(Some of which had bats, crosses and yes, vampires IN THE BACKGROUND!!!) So maybe you were 5 when this movie was released and couldn't read yet. Or maybe you were living in Amish country and didn't have cable or TV. (Or your parents didn't let you watch TV that late!)
