Coach Andras is the best because he doesn't just teach us how to think about chess; he teaches us how to feel about chess.

Your enthusiasm is infectious. I also tend to play conservatively and materialistically and will try to adopt this excitement in my games and, as you said, expand the possibilities on the board.

This is a very helpful video for me. I am a beginner ( late starter at chess, age 55), and I am terrible in the transition from Opening to Middle Game. And I know that some part of that problem is the desire to not lose (fear of losing?) material. Or at least the fear of losing material "in the wrong way". So that's definitely something that I will be working on. Thanks again!

The pleasure is mine, and welcome to the channel! I recommend you check out the amateur's mind series, which is full of valuable advice for club level players! (Also, the inside my head series is very instructive!)

100% agreement with you, coach. Overlooking exchange sacs is the Achilles heel of club players.

I've heard you riff on the "I'm afraid of" and the associated not calculating a few times. I feel like the useful rebuttal to this (and it works outside of chess too) is to face you fears. Okay, what is the worst that could happen to me? What does that look like? Being afraid of something isn't the problem. Not facing it down (and in the case of chess, calculating it) is the problem.

I feel blitz games can come in handy here. I struggled with this alot. I said to myself; this month you're going to sac if something interesting appears. After a month I'm used to the idea of When a sac is good When a sac is challenging but not objectively good When its bad. I'm still working on it, but now during games the idea pops in my head.

very good video sir, I reached 2200(lichess) rating because of you, played main line openings and did lots of tactics. I dont understand positonal chess at all, positional sacrifices when to make them, how to apply those concepts and my endgames, well I am good at calculation in endgame but winning an endgame position I find it difficult, after queens are traded off the board I feel the position to be drawn. I really want to understand and play positional chess 😭😭😭😭

This video highlights something I need to work on, particularly assessing after the sac to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Thanks for the great advice!! I am a pretty defense oriënted player, although not affraid to// willing to play imbalanced positions. These video's really help to encourage me to always look at these types of opportunity's. Great Video👍👍

I've found a similar thing with people. Especially a 1000 and below but up to 1500 ish. For example a weak black king, bishops pointing straight at it, ready for a sac to really open it up. And they move a Bishop from its attacking position to defend the a pawn or something. The hard part is teaching them the value of pieces originally as beginners and you don't take a pawn with a queen. To then rewrite that and say you don't need to worry about material. Another example that I've done for example is sacced a rook for a pawn. Leaving my opponent with 1 rook and king and myself with a pawn on c6 and a pawn on b5 with me to move. A lot of people wouldn't even consider that idea. As in whilst he is marching his pawn up the board and I'm just letting him do so. And I'll move mine up too. He is excited until he realised after b6 his rook is next to useless and his king is on the other side of the board completely useless.

Ussualy it very hard to fight a queen with 2or 3 minor pieces ,need a lot practice, without any clear reason maybe We must keep the queen to contest the queen
