Nice video man! Nice to get an outside perspective, I learned a few things from this even though I train with D all the time. There’s also a lot more to ecological dynamics than just invariants and training density. When you really get into it, it will change how you analyze and think about jiu jitsu in a very productive way. If you ever want to chat more about it, I’d be happy to chat more with you, and I’m sure Greg would be as well. Cheers bro!

Just did a seminar with Greg this weekend which was awesome. The way he's teaching makes more sense than the traditional approach once you actually understand and experience what he's proposing.

Deandre and his brother, Gavin are former teammates and they just worked harder than everyone. They are also some of the nicest guys out there. There was one memory I have from before they moved up to DC and started going to Standard where Deandre submitted me over and over from the same place he tapped Agazarm from. Our coach was watching us go over and over again and our coach goes, "Jason, you know what he's doing." And I was like, "nope, I have no idea what he's doing" and we all laughed. De and Gavin both are just ridiculous and amazing.

Is the Outlier database also good for BJJ fundamentals? How bout any Gi stuff? Or is it mainly focused on competition metas?
@LIMIBJJ5 ай бұрын
It is for all things no gi jiu jitsu related, fundamentals to the latest competition meta! Everything is entered by hand so there are some knowledge gaps where the model does not have the information to answer a given question, but we are getting there. This is why we want to grandfather in the early adopters, as the product is still in the developmental stages. There is not currently any gi content on the database.

So ’Chat no Gi-PT’ is not an option? I think it is even better. Funny thing about this video is that you could almost say that what he is doing is not originally ecological at all, but just Danaher stuff.

Its really ironic that you have a whole video promoting a method and breaking down the specific technical details of an athlete that doesnt think or train in a way that cares about those details.
@LIMIBJJ5 ай бұрын
I don't think it's as different as it seems on the surface. I try to give an outline of the concept or battle taking place and then show how Deandre seems to use a consistent solution to solve that problem. There are many ways to solve a given problem, I just tried to highlight some effective ways to give people inspiration when they find themselves trying to solve a similar problem
@kylep.45035 ай бұрын
@@LIMIBJJ oh Im not trying to attack you, if it comes across that way then I apologize. If I had to guess, Deandre isnt thinking about responses to de la riva hooks in the way its presented in the video. (If this then that, to set up this other thing) Its more likely he is soley focusing on breaking and/or nullifying his opponents ability to make/maintain meaningful connections and then using segmentation to get to the hips and shoulders. That approach and working 100% live is why the Standard guys are getting good so quickly.
