Sidi Abdul Rashed Meskienyar, and Ustadh Dr. Ali Ataie reflect on what the halaqa meant to them at this reunion gathering 15-years since it began.
The Friday Night gatherings provided a venue for healthy, relevant and meaningful discourse and conversation between leading scholars, community leaders, thinkers, students and young professionals.
Halaqa speakers included Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Tamim Ahmadi, Brother Usama Canon, Brother Abdul Rashed Meskienyar, Brother Ali Ataie, Brother Murabit Benevidez, and Brother Abdul Latif.
The halaqa offers a space for Muslims to embrace their own values and tradition; and a place for guests to explore the beauty and love of Islam. In a time where materialism reigns and religion and spirituality are generally put on the backburner, the Hayward Halaqah seeks to infuse its attendees with a spirit of social and religious consciousness.
This talk was hosted at Masjid Muhajireen on January 14, 2023. It was delivered via the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) in Pleasanton, California.

Ustadh Abdul Rashed Meskienyar has been a student of the Islamic sciences since 2001.
He has studied with Bay Area scholars and traveled overseas. He has a degree in Arabic Studies from the Darl Mustafa Arabic Institution - Al Badr in Tarim, Yemen. He also has studied advanced Arabic with scholars in Egypt.
Sidi Abdul Rashid studied Hanafi Fiqh with the Muhadith Hanafi Scholar, Mawlana Mumtaz Al Haq (May Allah have Mercy on him).
Sidi Abdul Rashid has a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Communications from San Jose State University.
