The legacy of Rachel Corrie, who was murdered by a Caterpillar bulldozer while trying to protect a Palestinian family in Gaza, continues on American college campuses today.
Students are demanding that their universities divest from companies like Caterpillar which have been responsible for killing Palestinians and destroying their homes since the 1960s.

Rachael was the same age as myself when she was murdered, if she lived she would have been in her mid-40s now. I remember hearing about what happened to her at the time, and it opened my eyes to what the occupation forces were really about. Im an American who was raised in evangelical 'Christian' zionist churches, which taught that 'God blesses those who bless Israel'- and by that of course they mean the modern state which was created by men and colonialism, not by God. Personally, half my family is Egyptian. We are all like that. More than 30 families in the Gaza Strip are called Al-Masri ["Egyptian"]. Brothers, half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis. Who are the Palestinians? We have many families called Al-Masri, whose roots are Egyptian. Egyptian! They may be from Alexandria, from Cairo, from Dumietta, from the North, from Aswan, from Upper Egypt. We are Egyptians.
