That's a simplistic way to look at it. Sure, UK elites have done a great deal of damage when they were one of the world's super powers. But all super powers have that problem. It doesn't have to do with the region it is from, but with the structure itself. The Roman Empire, the Mongol Empire, USA, UK, all of them both brought great development and countless misery in their times. Sadly it's part of the game. What we have to do is look at these structures and do our best to improve them. Repudiation of the people that run these structures is a part of it, sure, as it contributes to healthier incentive context, but it is far from enough. At best, Ilan Pappe must be one of the world's sloppiest historians; at worst, one of the most dishonest. To give Pappé credit, he is at least honest that his works aren’t objective truth but rather his narrative - shown through his one-sided portrayal of history and twisting of facts to fit his ideology. In a November 29th 1999 interview with French newspaper Le Soir, Pappé said: “Indeed the struggle is about ideology, not about facts, Who knows what facts are? We try to convince as many people as we can that our interpretation of the facts is the correct one, and we do it because of ideological reasons, not because we are truthseekers”. So who agrees with Pappé? Those who hold the same ideology as him. In my opinion, if we want to bring this conflict to a respectful end where Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace side by side, we have to put our fate in the children. Ilan Pappe is the only man I have heard so far who offers a rational and realisable solution to this Middle East conflict (although it will take time and further bloodshed). As in South Africa with a one-state solution and one person, one vote, but with an independent multinational authority with the likes China or Russia who can come down with an iron fist on dissenters and prevent civil war. This nevertheless means imposing BDS boycott, sanction and divest by the rest of the world against Israel and USA. Since currently 95% of the world stands against Israel, with co-ordinated leadership and courage, this can be achievable.
