I was riding a motorcycle in the Sahara in Morocco, I crashed. These two guys appear fix the bike and help me escape the dessert, they didn’t even want money I forced them to take some dirhams.

I Hope that you got out the crash unhurt. That sounds really amazing. Also many Moroccoans are extremely kind and helpful like the farmer in the video essay. In general I really like the very kind culture. Sadly there are like everywhere in the world some not so nice people as well and it’s a bit of a bummer that my experience of the Sahara was not the greatest because of that.

This is great storytelling. Marc Travels could learn a lot from you. Edit: The XJ600 is definitely NOT an adventure bike, and not one most people would choose. I have been in Morocco. I visited Casablanca, Marrakesh, Essouira and Agadir. If you stick to main towns it’s ok. However wherever you go, there are these types that are INSISTENT, always trying to sell you something or pretending to help you but at the end either they demanding money or demanding something that was not a part of the original deal. I will not travel in Africa alone because I cannot stand the types that lie, cheat, scam, look for bribes. It spoils the journey. You can be having the perfect day yet in 15min they will make you feel like you shouldn’t have come. There are KZbinrs who do everything alone, will tell you it’s all good and yes, it’s all good because until now, it’s worked out in their favor. When that changes, a) they not likely to tell you and b) they may no longer be around TO tell you. If you have to do this, carry a satellite phone, emergency beacon. Plan what you do. If you going in the desert, best start 5am than 2pm. You at least got daylight hours to sort your problem out. 🤷✌️

Thank you for this comment. It feel good to hear from someone with similar experiences. Because always when I was critical of situations like this in my videos I was wondering if my concerns are valid because I see no one on KZbin mention this. I saw some videos on KZbin that even infruiated me in that regard because this aspect is downplayed so mutch. I definitely learned my lesson out of this.

I tried to see things through your eyes, so what would I do/think/feel in this situation? I have very mixed feelings about this situation. I mean like for one they didn't let him starve alone in the desert neither would I leave a random European guy to his fate in the desert struggling without an appropriate bike or clear place to stay. I mean if they wanted to do something why not do it on the spot..? It was already dark and desolated you know? Some questions were worrying but at the same time they could be making sure you would end up okay. Would they ask such questions if they had ill intentions? Remember it was you first trip, alone and out of the usual. You seemed anxious the moment you entered Morocco even in Chefchaouen while the people there are just amazing. Calling many things dodgy wasn't so nice. After all the guys helped and guided you and gave you a place to stay. Brought your stuff back to the main road. I admit it was in a way which is strange to us Europeans. I would have liked to know where they were going and whether they expected a fee in exhange. So if they forced a payment afterwards that's shitty behaviour. Also would have liked my helmet and gear on but that's the difference in mentality which could make you feel like they are bailing with your stuff unless they were then they are real shitheads and deserve no good words. But not so bad after all right..? You were in a tough place and it is hard to not let fear cloud your judgement. Wish you didn't have to go through it. Not saying life is all roses, so you should definitely keep your guard up no matter what continent you are on. It's just that this shapes a kind of narrative because I'm already seeing some comments based on this encounter and others agreeing with it. While you said that Moroccans have a typical friendly and kind attitude it doesnt seem to be the main takeaway for some here. Did enjoy the video though. The style is more down to earth and realistic. I would prepare better for certain scenarios in the future skill wise and knowledge wise such as riding in the desert for example and as some mentioned safety wise (sat phone/travelling in the dark etc.). I'm curious if the "camp" they guided you to was a real camp and whether you could recognize foreign license plates? I wish you many more beautiful and safe/healthy travels. Enjoy the moments and smile I'm following 🤝🏼
@FreeMilesMC
@FreeMilesMC Жыл бұрын
In the camp was nothing that was easying my worries. And the situation was really hostile there. I was lucky that they where after money. Thats why where where pushy. I think they wanted to make a quik buck and luckily nothing more.The thing is I was like 1.2 kilometers away from my hotel. I am pretty sure they where actively taking of with my stuff because they just took of and I had to catch up to them and make them give me my stuff back witch was just not nice. Honestly this situation was incredibly hard to portray. Because it’s so hard to walk the right line on this one. Also I am really uncomfortable with those events to this day. I was so scared that night that I still get really uncomfortable watching my own video. I was trying really hard to portray it right. I showed Clípbefor release to most of my friends to kind of get their opinion on it. And also to some of my Moroccan friends. In the end ofcourse every one has there own interpretation of this situation. But I really tried to present it as close to how it was.

It's refreshing to see that it can be done rather cheap. He's not using any modern tech other than a newer GoPro (I may be wrong and maybe it's another brand) But he shows it can be done without spending thousands. I personally started doing this with a bicycle, after selling my car, and planning to travel across Europe on either an electric bike, or maybe an old 150cc dual sports. Gas isn't cheap in Europe, and staying in places can eat your budget in a flash. A Honda Transalp would require around $900 in gas going from Spain to Albania, for example. But I don't need such a big moto, but I digress. Cheers

Wow, very good Storytelling made me feel like i was with you on the Trip! Your Adventure was definetly the opposit of what we are used to see from other KZbinrs where everything is always beautiful and perfect. Nice to see, that you keep it real! You get a Subscripton for that. Cant wait for more Videos of you!

I really enjoyed your video and was honestly frightened for you when you were in Morocco. Have been dreaming to do what you did for the past 20 years. As I can't even ride a motorcycle, however been driving a car for 25 years, I was planning to take lessons before the pandemic but then we know what happened. I'm almost 39 and would like to get my license before 40. Hopefully it will happen but life keeps getting in the way!

I Hope you still get to furfuil your dream. If you live in Europe. Maybe you should look in to the B196 license. Maybe it fixes your situation

@@FreeMilesMC Thank you for your reply. Yes I do live in Europe. I'm from Greece and we arguably have some of the best riding roads in the world because of the mountainous terrain. With regards to B195 we also have this in Greece up to 125cc however I still want to do the lessons and get the A license with no restrictions. Ride safe friend.

That was a great video, very different from others that i've seen .. felt genuine.. Most people, including myself, have a ton of kit to get themselves down the road. but I really enjoyed watching you go on an inexpensive "unproven" moto for a long trip and just enjoy it for what it was. Good on you bro!!

Hammer Streifen! :D Alles Gute dir!

I came here after watching the Iceland part 1 video. I've only ridden for 2 years and took a 10 year break. This year i started again and just yesterday i did my first small 200 km tour in germany. I realised im way more interested in adventure bikes than i thought and i'll probably sell my cbf 600 next year for one too. Your journey is really inspiring and i can't wait to try my own tours. Maybe someday even Morocco might be doable :). Your video quality is great, keep on going! If i may add a just a litte "extra". Maybe you could write or tell us the amount of days and ridden kilometers each day, like for example "day 3, 1200 kilometers done". Beginners could learn whats a realistic distance to drive with such bikes and in such countries. Thanks for everything, best wishes and safe rides!

That is a Good Idea. How mutch Kilometers you Ride in a day depends on Many factors on the Cross Country Road with curves and Sightseeing you can do between 250 and 500 in a day. If you are going Highway you can Go a lot more like 1000-1600 But it depends a lot on you as a Rider and also, That it’s posible does not mean it is a good idea
