I'd argue that the main reason the Winnetou movies were so successful was that by the time they came out, Karl May had been just about the most popular German author for several decades. Somewhat like how Lord of the Rings was bound to become successful no matter how bad the movies were. People watched them with their kids because they loved the books when they were kids themselves, then those kids went all nostalgic over the films and watched them with theirs, and... Well. You also left out the most hilarious fact of the whole franchise: for the first few decades, every single one of May's books was advertized as an autobiography. Since mass media wasn't really around yet in the second half of the 1800s, people saw them as just about the only way to learn about foreign countries, and occasionally based their own emigration decisions on them. basically fake news on a scale that had been just about unfathomable until then. Then, after May's death and World War 1, when more reliable information and American media became available, people started re-reading these novels with a "how could anyone think this was real" slant. Which, ironically, only made them more popular. That said, congrats on surviving the most overhyped tourist trap Croatia has to offer! Hope you continue to have a great trip!

That river crossing was really scary to watch. At the end I could see the handlebars wiggle more, I thought the bike was really about to fall. If it fell there, lifting it back up on slippery surface in cold water would be a nightmare.

Interesting thoughts on movies in general. Not unlike the norwegian film industry. I can not watch fiction anymore, I stick to KZbin and news articles. Cheers from Norway.

It's a really nice journey! Very interesting because I was considering going to Croatia and Slovenia some time as well. While watching I can't help but think how much energy it must consume to set up the cameras all the time, to film all what you're doing, while wearing motorcycle gear in summer. And motorcycling alone is very tiring already, especially in summer. Oh and you also edit the videos at the end of the day. That's some marine or paratrooper level of endurance. I hope that you still get enjoyment from the trip.
@FreeMilesMCКүн бұрын
Thank you for appretiating that because it really is tough curently editing and still have so mutch to edit today and the Setting up the Camera thing in the gear is really sometimes a Bit of a challenge 😂

As you move towards the coast, consider riding E75 road. Also known as "Jadranska magistrala". Goes all the way to southern Croatia, and has some spectacular views.

I was not a fan of the intro music this time. It was very loud and dissonant. The partial and inaudible phone call going through it only made it worse.

@FreeMilesMC that's great. Music was a bit off this time, I think. Like the music when showing the waterfall area. There is no need to put music underneath it. Especially no need for hyperactive banjo music (or whatever it was). Just didn't match up.

It does the job and breaks no bank. But for looking cool or in terms of visual design it’s a failure, even compared to the opinions splitter the 411. It’s a tool - that’s what it is and a tool that works. The morini is something very, very, very different, it had it’s time-slot anyway. Current bikes went ahead. In the moderate budget area it’s either the voge300 or the Himmy450. I don’t think that the cfmoto450 is a hard win in either of the categories, maybe places a third category, depending your target use. Above that you’re entering v-strom650de, benelli, cfmoto territory, and if you so will 390adv. I’d personally choose the voge300, vstrom650de, vstrom800de or T7, at19dct or r1300gsa(to come), or ajp pr7 for hard-off-road, no husqy/ktm/india/china bike above 5K. Whoever can travel offroad with a RE interstate can do so on a bullet350 as well. That type of bike has been the ultimate bad paths muncher for almost a century.

In my country we recently had the case of Honda presenting a 2nd generation of a small dual pourpose bike, and all first riders went out saying it was much better. But after several k thousands of km (adding up many privatelly owned bikes) mechanics now report huge issues with the new engine saying that the older is still the best. What we also should do in this case,imo. Thanks for the video, btw!
@FreeMilesMCКүн бұрын
Yes 100% agree sadly no one will know until this bike has been on the market for quite some time. That’s also why I kept my interceptor instead of selling it and buying this bike because completely new motorcycles with new engine and so one are always a bit of a gamble

Apparently you are confused or inexperienced. possibly we have a different perspective. I own 3 bikes Harley 72. FLH, this is a road bike. Moto Guzzi V85TT, ADV bike. This bike goes on improved surfaces gravel dirt sand road. Longer distances we have done the CDR part of the TAT. Many Back country discovery routes BDR. And last but not least DRZ 400 trail bike. 12” of suspension will go Most anywhere. I put may more miles on the Guzzi much more comfortable mostly off pavement. I don’t think I have been exposed to any lies or misrepresentation. All I added to the MG was crash bars. Did the CDR including the Great Basin on the.stock mich adv tires.

That thing is far too large to be an anti-personel mine. It's about the size of an anti-tank mine, but looks too new. Also you are in Slovenia, it had 10 days of light shooting and no minefields. It is extremely unlikely that it was a land mine.

It may be an idea to not have your lever/mirror/grip holders too tight on the handlebars. Should a motorcycle tip over then these parts should move preventing breakage but, be firm enough for riding.

14:55 This could actually be a Yugoslavian PMA-3 HE Blast anti-personnel mine. The PMA-3 is made of plastic and the surface may be covered with a layer of black rubber. The pressure plate is made of the entire top of the mine, so there are no fuses or pressure plates sticking out. It would be about the right size. What is worrying is that Yugoslavia produced this mine in considerable quantities. Combined with the strong resemblance to a PMA-3, this may actually be a mine.

@FreeMilesMC3 күн бұрын
@giostisskylas die Tage davor gavs starken Regenfall. Du scheinst dich auszukennen weist du wo man sowas melden kann. Meine Anlauf stelle wäre die deutsche Botschaft in Slowenien
@giostisskylas3 күн бұрын

Pro-tip: Move or remove your mirrors when going off-road. During a tip over, they are often the first thing to get damaged. Itchy Boots never did this and I've seen her replace at least 3 mirrors. She even had easily adjustable ones! P.S. Clean your faceshield!
