Question : is it difficult to get a cyber security position with software development experience but without any certificates ?

It might be slightly less difficult than coming from another career field if an employer needs somebody with strong dev skills but that doesn't automatically make you an extremely qualified candidate. You need to think about what you can do to become the most competitive candidate possible.

a degree or acreditation can also be desirable. Its serious industry and one should obtain quals eventually to future proof themselves as well as a sold reputation from prior work. Im seeing many public bodies wanting to see qualficiations etc( edited comment as I was not open minded enough) great vid and well done

Can degrees or certifications help? Sure they can help make you a more competitive candidate but they aren't a firm requirement in most situations. One challenge without those things is that you have to make up for it in the eyes of employers and sometimes that can be significantly more difficult.

@@JonGoodCyber very true. Each stuation is different. Im only coming from it from my experience. I was a Criminologist, Federal Gov Investigator and financial crimes investigator/online sec investigator (online risk gaming) who moved into digital investigations based on online threats to systems and internal threats. I found I was moving away from conventional fraud and commercial in confidence information theft. I am now pivoting full time away into Cyber security training, audits, consulting and investigations. In my situation I have found finalising my masters in Cybersecurity and Forensics allows me to get the postgrad education, I also get membership and accrediation with our countries Computing Society and python/ microsoft acceditaton. Its good to see that people are doing things different ways and the most difficut part for me and most exciting was bridging the technical knoeldge gaps with a better undersdtanding of python, neworks and cyber forensics. Thanks forn great content
