From hardcore drummer to social media influencer | New Money

It has never been harder to make money from music. Low royalties from streaming sites mean artists often have to work side gigs to get by.
Craig Reynolds is one of them. He is the drummer for the band Stray From The Path - but is arguably better known as a podcaster, KZbinr, streamer and influencer.
Sky’s series New Money takes a look inside new digital industries, speaking to some of the influencers, content creators and business owners who have turned their hobbies into full-time jobs.
In this episode Craig shows Sky's James Lillywhite how he is using new technologies to supplement his career as a heavy metal drummer - and explains exactly how his businesses work.

The whole way this works nowadays just makes me want to give up music. I have a full time job to actually live, then I have to find time to write music, record, perform, and spend hours trying to push our band on social media. All the while, competing with not only other bands doing the same, but now also a myriad of 'influencers' that can dedicate themselves to this full time. There's no way I can leave my day job to do this instead, and I don't have the time to start doing it outside of work alongside everything else. We're all fighting for people's attention, while individuals and companies are all doing the same too.
