I'm pretty stoked when the presenter cannot hide their excitement while they're narrating.

@@StripPanelNaked I have one request from you. I wish to see more "non english" content on your channel. Your blacksad episode is one of my favorites and I loved it to bits.

Another thing the art does to make itself feel more mundane - the dynamic shots of the murders are often more zoomed out and show at least one full figure (which makes them feel more static) while the talking segments by Morris are mostly closeups, making them feel more dynamic. So instead of reinforcing the feeling of each scene, instead the emotional payoff of the framing and the content of the panel is somewhat contradicted, it's evened out to something more neutral (dynamic scene feels more static, static scene feels more dynamic) - so both the talking and the murder feel more similar to the reader. I imagine there's probably also something to be said about how both murder and the speech are arranged into two planes, background and foreground - in murder the two constantly switch between murder and bystanders watching them, while for Morris we see him in the foreground, and portrait in the background 'watching' him.

Thanks for another great one Hass! Obviously don't want to push or anything, but this would be a great build to a little analysis of City of Glass. Also using the 9panel grid etc etc. (you haven't done one on that already, right?) Keep it up!

I'm surprised you picked the color version, I personally think the color in this version is sometimes kind of awful.
@StripPanelNaked3 жыл бұрын
There's pages in there in the color version that for me work really well, and pages that really don't work anywhere near as well as the black and white version! It's definitely an interesting experience in color.

@@StripPanelNaked Interesting! I dropped the color version early on so it's nice to see someone else's perspective.

Interesting, but this comic is meant to be in black and white. The full color version is just a mistake, almost as much as the movie.
