Wow another great video outlining the benefits of good family viewing and morals. I am continuously amazed at the professionalism of this presenter. Shows off how thoughtful he is and caring about his family and other people on the roads. I wish that more people would do that, don;t you?

I had you on 2Xspeed. Could you explain what Mobile Eye is and what Tesla S you have/had it on? This is the first I have heard of it. Thank you. My one experience driving a friends Model Y with FSD was very much like yours. I like the predictability of my 2015 Model S that only occasionally does over braking when in self driving mode and I love the lane change feature. I especially like "Jurassic Park Mode" (that is what we call it) that I learned from you on your July 4th trip to Yellowstone. We use it on back roads around where we live when we want to cruise at or below 25 MPH and just enjoy the scenery. The well marked roads make it easy for the S to stay in self driving even at the low speeds and sometimes very sharp corners (old avocado grove roads transformed to "neighborhood" roads when the trees were cut down and the lots created). So what is this "Mobile Eye" thing? Thank you.

Mobileye is a company that Tesla outsourced their Autopilot functionality to through 2015 and it's often referred to as Autopilot 1.0. In 2016 Tesla began their own in-house autopilot software which is what Full Self Driving has become today. Mobileye's functionality is simply lane keep referred to as autosteer and traffic aware cruise control where it'll maintain your set speed up to 90 MPH unless there's a vehicle in front of you in which case it'll slow down to match the speed of the slower vehicle. It will only change lanes when the driver turns on the blinker. I've driven many tens of thousands of miles with our Model S using autopilot 1.0 and it's fantastic to have as it sounds like you also use in your Model S. That's funny that you call it Jurassic Park Mode, but I agree we've used it in that same manner. Another time we used it like in Jurassic Park was here kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHSpdpdqnNV-nM0si=h-JczKTAiNcBmqep&t=602 driving through Wild Florida Safari. For many years I heard the grievances of others reporting the current functionality of their newer Teslas with the Autopilot 2.0 software doing stupid things like phantom braking and I’ve been really happy to be on Autopilot 1.0. As I talked about in this video once FSD is fully developed and capable as well as legal it would be awesome to be able to sleep while getting somewhere, or just not be paying attention. It would also be awesome to be able to get out of the car and "Banish" it to go park. I want that software innovation to keep going, but right now we're in an awkward phase where it’s not as good as me at driving (at least in my opinion the way I want it to drive) and I don’t know what it’s going to do or why it’s doing what it’s doing. For some reason Tesla expects us to beta test their software development AND pay for it at the same time which I find ridiculous. I didn't think to mention this in the video, but every single time that FSD is disengaged there’s a prompt on the screen to submit feedback to the autopilot team to describe the circumstances around the disengagement. I’d be happy to do so if I wasn’t paying for the software. Basic autopilot now is actually really good and I think it’s nearly at feature parity with Mobileye’s autopilot EXCEPT that Tesla has excluded changing lanes with the blinker from basic autopilot which I find super annoying and is likely a ploy to try to get more people to convert to paying for FSD.

So much to unpack here! A good friend of mine just had his test subscription end. He loved it, but not $100 a month, but would consider subscribing if taking long trips one month. I just Flew in from MIA a couple hours ago. So, I was smoking down I95 cursing those guys lingering in the left lane earlier today! Great analysis of #TeslaFSD in you #ModelY Have you done a video on the commander? I theoretically am getting #FSD on my #Cybertruck and was hoping they would honor the lower price....of course they have cut the price back to where it was when I reserved the truck. I do keep vehicles for a long terms, so we'll see. I do believe they will get there with FSD, but it will be a while before I can sleep my way to destination. Random comments but coincidently timely with my travels. thanks again for taking the time to share your Electric Tech Adventures

I haven't made a review video of the commander. I hope to do so at some point, but I don't actually have one. The commander I used on this trip was loaned to me and I've already returned it. I'm working on getting one to make a review video with still.
