I'm literally crying. I'm glad I've found it at the right time. This just makes me so passionate about keeping doing what I like, not what my parents expect me to do. I'm an international student and I will use every possible opportunity to get a better education abroad. I hope I'll find my comment 2 years later and thank myself for the hard work and persistence I have now at the age of 16.

just watched the movie - beautiful story. . it is possible to break the cycles. i love how clear headed she is, how insightful. how she acknowledges the love her parents gave her, despite all the problems, how that gave her a unique perspective. .and what a beautiful insight of how you cant give what you dont have yourself. i too learned that through some possibly tough life experiences. it gave me more compassion and understanding towards others. allowed me to judge less. especially homeless. i completely understand how she didnt realise she was homeless. i went through something quite similar. staying at friends most of the time, but sometimes on park benches, on the beach etc. i dont regret it at all though. it was actually quite a transformative experience for me, and gave space for a lot of healing to happen within, and seperate myself from my parents pain and world, to live my own life... i too came from a home with parents who were mentally ill. not drug addicts, so slightly different story, but not ideal. and how when you are a kid, and thats all you know. .but to start shaping a different destiny.

I watched the movie and it brought tears to my eyes. She was blessed with a beautiful mind and was given the strength and tenacity to overcome her past. Beautiful uplifting story.

She's so awesome! I'm also thinking about her friends in high school, who helped lift her up, encouraging her to stay in school. She chose those friends and I think that love of self was evident in her choices and that came initially from the love her parents genuinely gave her and she felt from them. 💝

I agree but I guess the real respect comes from her heart. I’m sure she wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. You shouldn’t be bothered by the way she sat while interviewing her.

@@shazanakhan9807 I agree, the whole "sitting" "shoe" whatever ideation is preposterous. I know it's cultural in many respects, but it really is meaningless in reality. I my op, it all comes from "male approved" "disrespect" ideation... which is pretty ridiculous. It's related to "gang" ideation.
