I'm late getting caught up, but thanks for the overview of the summit! It sounds like a really great time. We hope to join the next one, so we can meet other minka friends :)

Aloha from Hawaii. Enjoying your videos as a frequent visitor to Japan. Will be there again this summer. Thinking of buying a camper van as an alternative to an akiya but haven’t figured out the logistics of where to park it when we’re not there. Please LMK if you might be interested in “timesharing” a camper.

I've had the same thought but apparently only someone with Japanese residency can register and insure a vehicle in Japan.

Aloha! That is an interesting proposition. I already have 4 vehicles under my name which is two over my allowed. I am not a resident yet, I work for the US government. I am allowed two, but managed to get a waiver for an additional two. Hopefully you can figure something out!

Great video and very informative. Love the Japanese countryside and the old farmhouses but I'm well aware of all the work involved. Been in Japan since 2007 and really enjoy your videos because you keep it real and don't sugarcoat the dream of a cheap Akiya, nice job.

I have one of those handlebar trimmers too but mine came with a harness that straps on and allows your body to hold the weight. It's super helpful! I'll have to show it off on an upcoming video. Looking good man and I'm hoping to make it to next years Summit!

Looking forward to seeing you there! I have one too but it’s somewhere in my messy garage :-(

Great video mate we live in rural Okayama and decided to rent first and take our time to find the right Akia property. We're very interested in bio-intensive gardening (permaculture/no till). Would be good to network-Cheers

You would think straw roof would be cheaper. At 65k that’s a full year salary. Does it take that long for one person?
@cocolenchojapan5 ай бұрын
From what I understand it is a dying skill, therefore expensive. Now there are many houses with tin roof over the old thatch
