I love this - internet is flooded with people thinking success can only be defined as running a business. Something as simple as a thriving career in marketing that pays well can be deemed incredible - salute to you Seth & Patrick!

Everyone I've ever met who works in digital marketing seems to genuinely their job. I just wish it payed more

What do you mean? The salaries in Digital Marketing are great, especially considering people have such little experience to begin with. Patrick is making $50K in his first job. Most people leverage up to $60K within a year, then $80K within 2 years and by 3 or 4 years in many of my students are making six figures.

How is the Digital Marketing industry not oversaturated after all these years?
@sethjared10 ай бұрын
Multiple reasons for this. First off, the field has been growing exponentially since 2000. Google's initally annual ad revenue at that time was around $3Billion a year now it's $230 Billion+. The entire industry is almost a trillion dollar industry at this point, and therefore the demand for skilled ad managers has grown a lot. Second factor is the fact that Universities have consistently ignored teaching digital marketing in the Marketing programs. This is across the board in the US, from Stanford to U Penn to NYU to smaller colleges. Colleges are beurecratic, slow moving and inefficient and so their cirriculums are very slow to adapt. Check out NYU's Marketing program: www.stern.nyu.edu/experience-stern/about/departments-centers-initiatives/academic-departments/marketing/academic-programs/undergraduate-programs/course-descriptions Students spend 4 years studing bizarre and irrelvant theories primarily based in traditional models of marketing vs. getting the hands on skills needed to manage digital ads. It's really weird. Anyway, the proof is in the pudding, in that there are still tens of thousands of open digital marketing jobs and I consistently hear from hiring managers that they are disappointed in the aptitude of college/marketing graduates.

Can you do digital marketing overseas
@sethjared10 ай бұрын
The jobs I am speaking of are primarily in Western countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. You cannot be hired as a salaried employee for these jobs unless you are a citizen of these countries or if you have a work visa due to labor laws. If you live in a non Western country you can either get a job in your own country or you can freelance for Western companies via sites like upwork or fiverr.
