Josh, I truly enjoy your milling and mill house construction videos but I honestly have to say that this is, in my opinion, probably the best video that you’ve created. Not only does it show great craftsmanship but it’s about what it represents, a risen Savior! Thank you for sharing this content because I feel like some would have been hesitant to do so. Landis Legacy Farm and Fall Line Ridge are two of my most favorite sawmilling channels just for these reasons, you both put out great content and you’re both Godly men who are unashamed to share it using this platform that you’ve been blessed with! May God’s blessings continue to be upon you and may He keep you and your family safe! Happy Easter, He Is Risen! 🙏🏻

I find working on a cross comforting and some way of saying thank you God for sending your only son for our salvation. I am saying I am sure that you felt it too. I thank you for the service provided to our church of God.

Beautiful Cross. I built one also using 4x6 timbers with half lap joint and used it as a back drop for 2020 family Easter pics. Happy Easter to you and He is Risen!

Good old fashioned glue would have worked just as well to secure the joint. Great job on the cross. Even better you did the char treatment (shou sugi ban) to help preserve the portion that will go in the ground.

If you ever want to go into the cross making business, I think you have proven that you would be up to the task. There are thousands of churches across America, and many would probably appreciate your skills.

Great job! Do you have the exact measurements...and how deep did you put in the ground?
@LandisLegacyFarm3 жыл бұрын
I don't recall what the exact ones are, but I can give you rough ones. The mill track sections are about 6.5'(3.25' bunk to bunk) so that would probably make the horizontal 4' wide, and the vertical 8'ish tall. Horizontal is about 18" down from the top. I think I sunk it about 1.5-2' into the ground. 6"x6" timbers. If I remember, next time I'm by there I'll take some measurements on that. Josh

What measurements did you do the cross piece.

I just used an off the shelf stain/sealer. I would think BLO would work but haven’t tried it for something that’s outside 24/7
