Hey Ms.B, like your explanation of the way you charted out our Beatle's adventure. Takes away the worry of, "are they all going to be this challenging?" OMG! AWESOME SONG CHOICE “Coach”✅. This is a Fun, Fun Song!!! I especially looove the sound of the Am upstrum effect.....And the sound of the C7.....And the D7 Barre chord.......and the short clip of KITKAT😂😂😂. Great Tutorial!!!!!! Great Job!😀😀😀
@BernadetteTeachesMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hi Geralyn! I always love your feedback because you give me specific details about the things you like. The Am up strum was such a tiny detail but I like knowing it stood out to you 😊
@geralynpalacol92956 жыл бұрын
Yesss “Coach” - that Am upstrum is really soooo BEAUTIFUL(!!!) in this song - esp the way you play it (like poetry in motion) - I was laughing as i was commenting on some of these chords.....i thought “what’s so funny”......🤔🤔🤔then i thought i must be growing in my musicality.....(which i thought was COOL!!!!!).....And with chord changes......Eventually you come to intuitively KNOW when to change chords.....That was cool noticing that too!!!😂😂😂. THANK YOU “COACH”!!!!❤️
@BernadetteTeachesMusic6 жыл бұрын
YES!!! That's exactly right!!! Once you play a little longer, you start to "feel" when a chord change is coming!!! Isn't that crazy?!

The third single released by the Beatles in April of 1963, it went to #1 in the U.K., released in May 1963 in the U.S. on Vee Jay, it didn't make it into the Top 40 (it made it to #41), it was the A side backed by Thank You Girl on the B side. Vee Jay released it again in August 1964, and it did not chart, (another source says it was released in February, and that it was then that it went to #41). Del Shannon was the first American artist to cover a Beatles song releasing this in June 1963. His cover went to #77 on the Hot 100 chart. This was rewritten and used as a theme song for a radio program featuring the Beatles called "From Us to You." It ran in England from December 1963 to June 1965, consisting of five two hour shows. This was the first song that used the Beatles "Whooooo" falsetto that was used on their next singe, She Loves You, Paul mimicked it from watching Little Richard. Structurally, this is an unusual song as it is in a major chord (C), but ends on a minor (A minor). This was very rare in the world of pop music. (A minor is the relative minor to C, ((they share the same key signature)). It didn't appear on an album until after the Beatles broke up, in the U.S. it's on the album Past Masters Vol. One. This album includes the German versions of I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You. I love that you're giving away all your secrets, LOL, a super fast run through the chords eh? And I get to see one of the Kitties! (I'm also a Big fan of cats and dogs)! Cheers!!
@BernadetteTeachesMusic6 жыл бұрын
What do you think caused it to be a #1 in the UK and #41 in the US? Was it the song itself or the competition at the time? The ending is a funky one, but something that I think we are getting used to on this playlist of tutorials, as we ended on the G6 earlier this week. Glad you liked this simple tutorial. I spent more time on the play alongs here since there wasn't much to be taught technique wise. Thank you for the info :)
@SeanVplayer6 жыл бұрын
Being as biased as I am, I really don't have any idea why this one didn't click with the U.S. fans. I certainly always liked it a lot. Obviously it was one of the early collaborative efforts by John and Paul when they were really writing as a team. They wrote this one on a tour bus while on tour with Helen Shapiro, (a top tier headliner of the day, she was a 16 year old phenom.). BTW, they wrote I Wanna Be Your Man, (mainly Paul with a couple of things added by by John), and let the Rolling Stones use it as their second single release, and their first U.K. hit. The Stones released their version on November 1, 1963. The Beatles version was included on their With The Beatles album, which came out on November 22, 1963. The Beatles version was a showpiece for Ringo to sing. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were amazed at this display of songwriting prowess and soon began writing their own songs. It really inspired them since it seemed to them that John and Paul seemed to have written it over in the corner of the rehearsal studio in about a half an hour. It got to #12 on the charts for the Rolling Stones. I have been having So much fun with all of these, and I am trying them out also on my baritone ukulele. What is hard on my concert, is easier on the baritone, and vice versa. As you know the chord for C on baritone is like an F on the concert etc. Anyway, Great fun all the way around. I look forward to tomorrow's final challenge of the series.

@@SeanVplayer yeah, I wonder if maybe it wasn't edgy enough for America... I guess we will never know. Yes, I completely understand about the baritone ukulele! I used to do that when I had my Bari. It is currently somewhere in the middle of the Pacific... Hope it gets here in shape. See you tomorrow for Eleanor Rigby ;)

So this is the song you have been playing all along :D It is a fun progression, and it has no barre chords. Good job picking songs in a way that you are mixing up the difficulty level. Picking songs that were progressively getting harder would demotivate some players. Learn this song everyone :) Your big brother signing out :)

That was a real feel good lesson. Yes I admit barre chords are still a bit difficult. Keeping a strumming pattern going while singing is a bit tricky, but when playing this, I can actually now see that I've progressed and improved. I'm seeing that I'm getting out of the frustrating zone of despair Lol. I'm just thinking less and letting it come.
@BernadetteTeachesMusic6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Maria!! SO happy to hear you're getting out of the "zone of despair," lol. Songs like this are perfect to help remind us how far we've come. It still has more chords than the typical pop song and fast changes with a strumming pattern, but it shows us we CAN do it!!!

I am a beginner and enjoying your teaching. You do a lot of uke reviews. I just bought a Vircayaya concert ukulele from Amazon, made in China, because of the beautiful blue color. I really like the low action, it seems I will soon be able to barre. It sounds great to me. But... it seems to me it has very sharp edges, not rounded, and the frets are not smooth. I was hoping you as a professional would review it. Thank you for teaching.
