It's admittedly really hard to hear someone who was forced to resign in disgrace amid multiple ethics scandals talk about trust. However, he's not wrong about it's importance, and as always, Andy leads a good discussion.

He said it’s hard for them to accumulate wealth, after taxes and living costs, their actual real take home income is only a $80k. how could they accumulate wealth on that little amount? What a complete and utter crock of horse shit. Do all members of congress think people’s incomes are totaled after taxes and living costs?

To change the scope of Washington DC, we need not only courage but Accountability for those that hold the highest positions in government. Until that happens we will continue down this self destructive road. Good podcast Andy!! We need more of this to hold politicians Accountable.

I smiled when Ryan says that we've gone a little to the right...and that's why you just cannot, as an absolute rule, trust a politician. Ryan is "one of the good ones", sure, but he's still a necessary evil, namely, a politician. They definitionally cannot be honest, critical thinkers, because they exist in a game. Well, just refuse to play that game then...fine, but then you get absolutely nothing done for the constituency that elected you, ostensibly to get stuff done. I loved it when Andy questioned recruiting SEALs/military veterans to be politicians...it caught Ryan off guard. He was thinking, "What's this guy doing??...my God, I'm talking about recruiting operators, they're beyond reproach, doesn't he know that????". Great stuff here, & Andy, once again, you've shown yourself to be an ACTUAL critical thinker, refusing to staple yourself to the right only, as approximately 101% of your audience does, & that's the impressive part. You'd have a much larger audience & make a lot more money if you'd just go full on far-right, but you refuse to.

Flathead Lake (and all Montana lakes this year) is the best example he could have given of a broken bureaucracy. One of the heaviest snow years we have had in decades, every river with a dam had flooding.....and all of our lakes are low by the end of July. The whole purpose of dams is to retain excess water during runoff to prevent flooding and so it is available later. They utterly failed on both ends on every waterway we have.....but no one will lose their job over it.

I'm sorry, but this gentleman is a typical wannabe politician. The fact that some guy was in the SEAL teams does not automatically make him a good and truthful person (as it seems to me is often implied). His entire anti-Chinese rhetoric is built primarily on an ideological basis. I am very sure that he would have a hard time clearly proving many of his absurd claims directed at China. And even if many of them were true, it must also be admitted that the same things can be blamed on Washington (lies in foreign policy, imperialism, pollution, trade with organs in the South, etc.). Isn't that a bit hypocritical? Washington is simply shaping society for a future confrontation with China. Career politicians, generously paid by wealthy donors in the background, did it whenever they needed to sway the public to their side. It's called manufacturing of consent.

If you're elected to Congress. You should have to recite the Constitution word for word or forfeit your seat to your opponent. The Senate is supposed to be appointed by the State Governments not by election. Congress should be banned from All investing, lobbing and book publishing during their time and office and for 5 years following their term. Salary should be minimum wage, on post housing like the military in barracks with military healthcare and No Retirement Benefits that are linked to their service. Go back home and make your money after politics like the rest of us and figure out your own retirement.

I like Ryan Zinke however I feel he is disconnected from the reality of what is going on in the government and country. There is no solving the problems with those on the left, they are just nuts and have spent the last 30-40 years getting entrenched in out government. I also was disappointed with his answers or rather non answers on Term Limits, Congress and Senator's investing in things they have insider information on. Also I was disappointed that Andy didn't ask him why he left and what were the reason behind it. Now all this being said I have the upmost respect for his sacrifice and service but as his performance as a congressman is disappointing.

I don’t know why, but it’s so frustrating hearing politicians speak. I genuinely wanted to like this guy, but my gut says I’m listening to a salesman. It felt like everything was being turned and framed vs giving the brass tacks. Cut the bs. Listen to someone like Elon Musk give an interview vs a politician. I don’t think Elon gets everything right, but my BS detector isn’t flashing red when he answers questions. Do genuine politicians exist or is “genuine politician” an oxymoron? The jury is still out, but the evidence is mounting. Lol. I’ll go ahead and pick up my pedestal and get on with my life now.
