This all are really cool and simple mods that make a lot of sense. Like for instance, during a long time I have been hoping they would bring back the 84 mm scissors, or many times I have thought, if only the alox 58 mm had the toothpick and tweezers. Also, the pruner blade makes a lot of sense as the bottle opener pair. Would you consider making a beginner’s workshop with basic stuff, like how to acid etch a main blade without disassembling, or an update in how to get and change the scales to micarta or titanium for instance in the most cost-effective recommended way? Maybe think about it as busy-dad mods. Thanks for the video and all the cool mods this year, I always enjoy watching. Happy Holidays!

Thanks! I appreciate it. Yeah I've been working on a beginner's guide to SAK modding. I plan to make a book with supporting videos. Hopefully I'll get it finished in 2025.

Tweezer/pick might could be slimmed down a bit by changing the orientation of the tools. Rotate them along the primary axis 90°, like they were when stored in the original scales. Then (1) slide them in diagonally, from upper left pivot to lower right pivot, for example. Or (2) slide them in vertically, such as how they are in the original scales, one between the two upper pivots and the other between the two lower pivots. Perhaps they could be guided to overlap adequately in the center. In both cases, you’d probably have to get creative with the finger picks of both tools to make them retrievable, yet still fit the outer form of the blade. Probably more work overall and whatnot compared to how you did it, if either config would even work, but it could possibly slim it down by a smidge… And if you’re one to carry a 58 as your EDC (like me) you probably want the tool to be no larger or thicker than absolutely necessary. How does the overall thickness of the knife compare with your add on, vs if the blade had the original scales for the tweezer/pick? What is the net difference?
@FittoSurvive3 күн бұрын
I thought about turning the pick and tweezers to reduce the thickness, but as you mentioned, accessing them becomes difficult. The accessory holder adds an extra 3.2mm. So, definitely makes the knife thicker.

Your modifications are brilliant! I wish that Victorinox would have a custom modification option so that we SAK addicts could order and pay for custom built knives straight from the factory. Wishing you & family a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The red alox is absolutely perfect. All the tools I actually use daily in a compact design! How can I buy one?? I LOVE IT!

Love the scissors on the cadet!! Q - did you ever try to "transplant" a Swiza Ticktool to a Vic - IMHO should fit great where the magnifying glass'd go? (the OHO-blade of a Swiza would also be great on a Vic 91mm)

I'm curious about the spring you used for the Cadet scissors. Did you adapt the original ones?

On the 58mm, why not put the tweezers and toothpick on their sides one above the other? That would narrow the insert a good bit.

Think to add a Pen and the pin to the same layer, its already thick, you might as well use it
@PhyNxFyre3 күн бұрын
If you're willing to cut a notch into the precious scales you can just add a U shaped spacer much thinner than what you have now. Milling the channel might work too but could compromise the strength a bit too much. No liners needed because they slide right along the springs

Do the Wenger evo scissors drop right in or did you have to mod them to fit the 84mm vic frame?
@FittoSurvive3 күн бұрын
The scissors and spring have to be modified to work in the 84mm SAK.

since the G10 piece on the 58mm is pretty thick would it be possible to insert a sliding pen from a 58mm scale in the middle? or remove on of the two slot for the pen instead
@FittoSurvive3 күн бұрын
Very good question... I will look into adding the pen slot.

@@FittoSurvivegood idea. 58mm pen can be equipped with custom head. Similar to the 91mm pen. This is super easy.

That insert for the plus accessories needs to have a flashlight built in using up the otherwise wasted space!

I wish that the first one you showed had an inline Phillips driver. I don’t know why they are not popular, and b the worst thing to me is a Phillips in the corkscrew position acting as a T handle.
