In 1989 UNU-WIDER published Hunger and Public Action by Jean Drèze and Amartya Sen. This book catalysed further movement away from seeing development in terms of GDP and income, and towards the capabilities or human development approach. Today the latter is wide spread in development economics, the bi- and multilateral development agencies and beyond.

Jean Dreze deserves the Nobel Prize but sadly he doesn't have Saudi Arabia funded lab like Abhijit Bannerji

He would win very soon, I am 100 percent sure. You don’t need to abuse Abhijit banerjee, he’s work has been transformative too.
