Jean dreze is one the best social thinkers in india...he always stresses that the development of the country should not be judged on the industrialisation and corporate buildup...the real development of a country is the Human Development Index...and its high time we should stop romanticising this whole GDP growth and corporate sector expanding.

The economy will improve only when the present govt. will stop their fascination with GDP numbers. The formal economy is bleeding I mean demonetisation was crippling for middle class.

I didn't fully understood much of their talk about numbers but Jean seemed to have more practical thinking as economist ,he do see economics beyond politics which as a matter of fact India needs more then anything.
