This is the aspect of unity I love. It may be slacking behind unreal in the game world, but for real world applications that will make real world impact, Unity is the number one engine for 3D in industry, medicine, manufacturing and robotics.

I dont think unity is slacking behind unreal at all. Its just part of the unreal marketing hype train that makes you think that. Because that has always been the marketing tactic of unreal. The hype. For example, nanite, a fancy hype train word fot lod system. But in all reality just an lod system which rhat unity always has way more options for lod systems. But the unreal hype train would have the unsuspecting consumer thinking wow nanite!

@@LifesMystery777 Metahuman is cooler than anything unity has. Yes in terms of game dev, unreal is far ahead. Metahuman, nanite and lumen are things unity don't have yet. Not to talk about unreal's superior AAA game workflow that provide you with the ability to make large scale games. Unity still has not solved the 32 bit floating point precision problem. However, Unity is much better for non-gaming applications because of its flexibility.

Unity is still the number one game engine for solo and indie studios. Unreal is currently leading for AAA games. I had jumped onto the Unreal hype train because of nanite and lumen. But when you dig a little deeper, you realize those technologies are not ready for the mass market due to hardware requirements. So I am switching to Unity which is more performance focused and has some interesting new technologies such as adaptive light probes, DOTS and Burst.

As a student, I am using Unity currently to develop robotics algorithms without needing to buy expensive physical equipment and risk them breaking because of untested code

Unity Havoc physics is deterministic ( but only works with dits for the moment) so if you absolutely need it, you know where to go

I really like this new perspective of the Game ❤ (pun intended): Unity for Safety in Factories... in general: ROBOTICS. It's a very Humanitarian point if view, keeping people safe at their workplaces, and hopefully it will also create new Job Positions 🎉🎮👍🏻🏗 Please don't hold back... try any good ideas you have in the future...For instance: add Augmented Reality (or V.R.)to the mixture, to help people see useful overlays over everything at their workplace, so we can help guide them during complex (and usually dangerous) Procedures.
