I can't wait to get my hands on one. Recently started playing the game on a really cheap Walmart board and I'm absolutely addicted to it. I've watched a ton of World Championship Crokinole videos on youtube.

Beautiful work! I am going to try and make my own crokinole board. I just can’t figure out how to make the round guard. Looks like you had some sort of thin wood that you bent around the edge.
@phaedruscj33302 жыл бұрын
I agree it is unfortunate that this isn't clear in the video but there are other videos that cover it a bit. His process is much more efficients and produces equivalent or better results. The only part not clear is how does he make or get the this strips.
@theburnetts2 жыл бұрын
@@phaedruscj3330 I ended up finding something called "Bendy Ply" at my local lumber store. It was a very, very bendable, thin plywood. I laminated two pieces of it together and bent it around the outside of my board and it worked well.
@phaedruscj33302 жыл бұрын
@@theburnetts That would be ideal. Ripping 1/8 strips somehow on my table saw is not within my capability yet. I have only seen the flexible ply online under various names and only at Home Depots site which indicates no longer available. I have found nothing so far in eastern Kansas. I found some web sites that offer (made by laminating the layers parallel rather than cross wise) but exceed my budget. Thanks for the reply!

Love the story, love the workmanship, I want to try the game. Perhaps build a board in my shop.
@Kernoweth6 жыл бұрын
Would love to start playing this but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a thing here in the UK. To buy a board and ship it here is just far too expensive. I'll have to stick to my game app on the phone. I wish I was more DIY capable so I could attempt my own but wouldn't know where to start.

Try crokinole.de - not cheap, but cheaper than postage from Canada, and a great board

@@huwadamson Yup. I heard great things about this board. So I bought one. Can't compare it with other boards because it's my first one , but I gotta admit.. Smooth surface. It's made with love and you can see it. Great board. They even have a hang system for it. Bought it today. Will hang beautiful in the living room

I have never played with sand on the board, is that standard?
@Jacob_SonOfThunder5 жыл бұрын
It's not sand, it's gliss powder. They have different types for different speeds. It helps to make the disc glide smoother and faster. You don't need gliss powder, but professionals consistently use it. There is a vibrant debate about it's use in the crokinole community.
@heyimamaker5 жыл бұрын
@@Jacob_SonOfThunder Interesting, do they reapply the powder during the game?
@Jacob_SonOfThunder5 жыл бұрын
@@heyimamaker Yes, they have a constant supply in the gutter that they use to rub the discs over.

why round? not octagonal
@jeffgendron19598 жыл бұрын
Round is recognized by the world crokinole championships. A round side rail or rim has a definite advantage. The position of your lower palm or wrist is always the same distance from the start/5 line when you initiate your crokinole shot. www.crokinole.com/faq.asp
