Ive found that boxes are easy to build and look easy to defend but are actually one of the most vulnerable shapes. Especially when you try to pack them full of guns. But man it is difficult to make nice looking hulls that function.

This is true, but Lathrix is more of a From the Depths focused youtuber/channel, while EE (and I imagine most if not all of the others) are not. Meaning, most of Lathrix's community are highly interested in the game, thus more likely to use his stuff it was available. Now..... does this mean his fear is correct? Maybe not. I for one would love to see his stuff and be able to mess around with it, the same as I mess around with lots of community builds.

Ahem. You actually can, they are by far the most overpowered weapon type in the game. I think the real important thing is being able to build the supporting infrastructure for a PAC.

To be fair, a good understanding of the game is needed to make PACs work, but still nowhere near as much as APS, imo. If you want to get started, try missiles, then CRAM cannons (try high gauge, it's significantly more effective). This combination of Missiles for faster targets and aircraft (torps for subs too) and CRAM cannons for destroying battleships, you can get very far into the campaign. I got about 150 hours optimising CRAMs and missiles, before jumping into APS, which is significantly more versatile (it's the other one weapon type that you'll be able to complete whole campaigns with alone) but also much harder to make. If you must start with APS, remember to design your shell, use a test gun to fire that shell desireable damage is dealt, then use an APS calculator like this one hand-of-cthulhu.github.io/ftdacc/ to build the gun itself, then finally you can design a hull/airframe around it.

Anyone else kind of hate how spammy Advanced Cannons can get in this game? I feel there should be a hard fire-rate cap for APS guns (like there is for CRAM cannons) for performance if nothing else. Without asking you to make so many crazy things, i'd say scrap the side guns and ditch the sail. The side guns are dead weight, they will cost a lot when they are damaged and need repairs, and think about it. 500mm advanced cannon obliteration on the back. Think about it.

Could you perhaps build some sort of cathedral for khorne? like a single huge, slow, almost fortress-like capital ship. a monster capable of/solely designed to of 1v1-ing the other factions home fortresses, all the while torturing your CPU enough to make khornes greatest rival, Slaanesh, jellous. like the "twin" capital ship from season 3

I love the design of that airship. Just a bit of metal ribbing and it'd be a contender for the ever full slots of the DWG campaign craft submissions. :) Edit 1: have a look at the new simple weapons, at the moment the simple auto cannon and the simple laser are very nasty slap-on anti-air weapons. :) You can not remove the despawn limit. It is hard coded by Nick to ensure performance. But the limit is waaaay higher than a number of iterations ago.

Given that all of your ships, are ships... I feel as tho they should rock around some. The way you do perfectly stable PID powered ships makes them always seem very artificial. Like they aren't actually flying. Because, nothing is that stable in real life. Planes move about in the air even if only just, as do even ships of the largest size.
