I think I prefer your method of coloring over complicated designs. It makes them look more technologically advanced and stronger than the other factions designs.

The godly designs in the current version of the game are extremely rare in my experience playing this in the current version. I preferred the tile garrison system. You could have more battles and much bigger ones at that.

The old tile system did give a lot more battles, but I do like being able to see which ships are coming so you can plan for them.

I definitely prefer the new system. Especially playing casually more aggressive AI that will try and capture your territory and attack your base before waiting to stack up all of its home territory is great. Another thing that I love is that it's not as grindy. Fighting a bunch of huge battles takes more time than I have for FTD. Haven't met a lot of godly's but I'm still playing on easy so can't comment on that. There's got to be a way to give the factions enough resources at the start to begin constructing godlies right away

For repair bots, having more than a few (depending on the cost/block count of the craft) is considered cheesy because, as you said, the campaign craft can't have them. It's mainly an issue when craft have so many that they become essentially invincible because all damage is repaired seconds later.
