In celebration of Profile Racing's 50th anniversary, owner and founder, Jim Alley, invites us into the company's original Florida location where some sections of this dark and dusty industrial cave have been sealed off since 2004.
Over time, this building (appropriately named "The Dungeon" by employees) has become a time capsule; a host to historical artifacts capturing Profile's legacy in both the automotive and bicycle industry.
Join us on this multi-episode series as we press record and let Jim imbue his wealth of knowledge on conjured pieces of the past.
This is From the Dungeon.
Welcome.

Just me again, making my rounds, commenting on videos posted a few years ago and kicking myself for not seeing them until now. Unbelievable to see the square tapered crank prototype, never would have thought that would have even been a thing during development. The 48-spline is such an important innovation in not just BMX, but all of the bicycling industry. What I wouldn't give to own one of those old prototype arms. Simply amazing info and again straight from Jim. Thank you Jim for all that you've done for bicycles.

Just had a customer tell me about these videos, I rode Profile bikes and parts in the 80's and even use the cranks and other parts on my race bikes today. I work for Planet Bmx and I will always love the profile product! I hope one day to be able to meet the Alley family, Profile was a great part of my childhood and it would be so cool to meet the people behind it. I met Gus and he is a awesome guy, so I can only imagine how the Alley's would be. Stay Rad and thank you for the many years of great BMX products!

I raced Profile 175mm cranks on my Profile Champ, my favourite BMX frame and forks, back in the 80's and now have a pair on my 2016 22" S&M frame - no other crank would do for me. I love hearing about the history of the best BMX frame & forks, cranks, hubs, etc. I ever known!

Tremendous insight into your legendary cranks...All my BMX fleet are adorned with Profile cranks including one set of the classic box cranks. I'd cut off the first digit of my right pinkie before I part with those cranks!!! Cheers, PJW

Sweet👍. It would be great to see a video regarding the Profile cranks with your R&D versus the redline flights. I know the splines were different, the red line 401s had a pinch bolt (which Shimano is now using )for tighter spline interface, I guess . Just curious what you’re thinking and analysis was at that time vs the Red line designs.
