Z biotics does work, glad they are sponsoring you. But I think I found the upper limit of their effectiveness at the rum show. 43 samples and a cocktail from Trailer Happiness. The next morning was not full of fun.

Love that you did a lower-sugar UHT cream of coconut! This is more or less how I’ve been making mine for the past year or so. It’s got delicious fresh coconut flavor and you can be generous with it, without making a drink cloyingly sweet. I’ll be making this recipe soon. Have been sitting in the liqueur for quite some time. Not even sure why I got it - guess it was for this. 😛

I know El Dorado 12 gets most of the love online (it's good, I like mixing it, though it's a little much on its own for me), but the younger El Dorados are _really_ pleasant and drinkable without being flat or boring. the butterscotchy-ness of the 3 seems like it would play very nicely with the nutty richness of some of the other ingredients here.

Hey Derek! Just a quick question… when you say 8 ounces of ice are you weighing it or are you just using a 1 cup scooper and dumping that in? I weighed mine out in a Pyrex and 8 ounces of ice measured up much higher than the 8oz marker for fluid ounces for obvious reasons. But I’m just curious, thanks man! PS your camera work is the best on KZbin among cocktail content creators.
@makeanddrink5 ай бұрын
Thanks! 8 oz would be by volume, so just 1 cup. I’d say anytime I use oz it would always be volume and not weight. There are times ice is weighed like the TS book recipes, but that’s in grams.
@markavery29915 ай бұрын
@@makeanddrinkright thanks makes sense. I remember in the Ultimate Pina Colada video you specifically mentioned that you weighed it out and it was in grams. Thanks for the clarification. And that Pina Colada came out fantastic. This Aroy-D was a great find I couldn’t believe how much more I liked it than the Trader joes canned version I was buying previously. Appreciate your videos man I try to spread them to friends of mine you’re killin it. You got me hooked on Tiki last summer during your mai tai journey. 🤙🏼

FYI Vitamix has a 'Bullet' attachment - I pretty much use this exclusively for cocktails. - it's worth it.

Pretty sure they don’t make an attachment for the new Costco blenders they sell, or at least that’s what I was told.

@@makeanddrink Hum you're mostlikely right. I do have a 2 year old VM.
@ericepperson84095 ай бұрын
I just looked up the price on the Vitamix Personal Cup Adapter as they call it - $150! You can buy a nutri bullet for less than that. Heck Costco had a Blend Jet 2 pack for half that price. With the Blend Jet you have to be careful on the size of frozen fruit chunks you use, but their plenty enough powerful for nugget ice, syrups, and liquid purees. I had 2 of them going earlier this summer making drinks for guests.
@lokmtb85035 ай бұрын
@@ericepperson8409 yeah, but the nutribullet are extremely weak. I have one and I really only use it for protein shakes. I guess it really comes down to personal preference. Do you want to blend a kinda chunky ice cocktail and save money? Or do you want a perfectly smooth cocktail and spend a bit more? If you have a vitamix already you probably want a perfectly smooth blended cocktail otherwise you wouldn't have spend $500 on a blender. So then you buy the overpriced attachment.
@omgitsjulian5 ай бұрын
@@ericepperson8409 JDF recommends 2 “ standard cubes” per cocktail for dilution. So I think you can get away with most anything here… well minus this blended drink I suppose.

yeah, FDC has a pretty neutral aroma, while ED3 has a good bit of caramel/butterscotch. you might be able to tell them apart side by side, but there's no way it'd be bad or lacking in flavor with FDC. (ED3 is worth grabbing though, it's usually pretty cheap too, at least where I live)

@@makeanddrink I'm confused. I've always heard of a chi chi being a Pina Colada with Vodka instead of rum. Can you explain to me what a chi chi is?
@makeanddrink5 ай бұрын
@lokmtb8503 the videos explains it. They wanted to make a chi chi but decided to use rum. They don’t call it a chi chi on their menu, and it has a liqueur that a Pina Colada does not have. But I find what inspires someone to create something interesting, not matter the name or how they got there.

@@makeanddrink 0:02 "it's their take on the Chi-Chi except we're getting rid of the vodka and using rum instead" 3:03 "so the chi chi is basically a Pina Colada with Vodka instead of Rum" If Chi Chi = Pina Colada - rum + Vodka. Why would you say Chi Chi - vodka + Rum ≠ Pina Colada I'm baffled at how this isn't a Pina Colada with macadamia liquor added. I swear this has to be some kind of tongue in cheek joke.
@makeanddrink5 ай бұрын
@lokmtb8503 dude. Way overthinking it. It’s literally not named a Chi Chi. Nor is it called a Pina Colada. They wanted to make a version of a Chi Chi and ended up with this. Happens with most cocktails. Start somewhere and end up somewhere else.
