What worries me about shows like this is the writers often don't actually know what's going on or the answers to the questions themselves. They are just trying to keep watchers hooked and after awhile that begins to frustrate instead of engage. This inevitably leads to plot holes and an ending that's a disappointment. Lost and Battlestar Galactica are great examples of this. The writers didn't actually know what was going on themselves and had no clue how to end the shows. They both just gave up and went with a "heaven and angels" ending and didn't even try to explain anything because they didn't know themselves.

There are too many weird things completely forgotten by the show. The spiders, the thing that dragged the tent. The tree and the ravens (before cars how did they get to the town? Was there a town? Or was it the shacks?) what about the random lighthouse? Is there a body of water that they could use a boat in and potentially live safely in? Where did the lake veggies come from. Why didn't the previous residents leave records or writings like journals (not just Richard's dumb symbol book) ? I mean Victor survived and the creatures don't know every hideout the towns people used.

@ilovenovels 3 күн бұрын
@luckyowl6432 they did the exact same thing for lost (same writers). They threw questions first and thought of the answers later, multiple writers and contradicting information led them to have to ignore some of the presented questions, which is disrespectful to people like you who are actively immersing themselves in the "detective narrative" the series is clumsily trying to set up. If you don't know the modus operandi of these writers you'll get your hopes up connecting dots and remembering clues only to get bs answers or no answers at all for the sake of laziness or shock value, what a shame. Maybe you'd like something like a story arg that is actually structured from begging to end. These kinds of shows are made for the mainstream and just "imitates the feeling" of piecing clues together.

Just wanted to let you know that was Julie from the future in that last scene where Jim is killed. Hence the different hairstyle, clothes and scratch on her face. Just didn't seem like you caught on to that. Thinking it was the same Julie immediately after the diner scene with Ethan. She must have found out how to use her ability to go back in time and try to change the outcome of things after finding out about Jim's death.

Well i hope you can be patient coz we'll be waiting awhile. Since i heard or read somewhere that the estimated release for s4 is anticipated to be sometime in 2026. The thought of waiting that long for me is ultimately crushing 😔

A major question I have is: Can they hear your thoughts? The monsters seem to have information from some other source, something that is omnipresent and watching. They can hear things beyond their senses. Is it an intelligence that feeds them info, or is it a passive network of information beyond a normal humans sense? If you laid a trap, would they know it? And if you laid a trap which they knew of, is that due to some intelligence who tells them, or do they know because you know? Can you build a tool or a trap? Can you make your own talismans? Would enough firepower work against them? Is there some kind of technological answer like perhaps a way to block the flow of information like a faraday cage blocks the invisible wireless signals (WiFi, cellular, radio)? Could you build a big wall around the town out of stone or trees that would be able to keep things out? I would want to capture one to try things on it, like shocking it with electricity or lighting it on fire or boiling water or seeing what happens with you remove their limbs. Edit: Could you build a building with a secret exit, and lure one in with a person who then escapes, sealing the exit and then on the outside you put a talisman so they're effectively trapped? Do the talismans actually work or is it just a rule in a game that they arbitrarily follow? If a talisman mechanically WORKS and it subverts the powers that be somehow, surely you could do more. You could build walls around the town and carve the symbol into the wood all around. You could hide it, if they do not have some lateral knowledge transmission from some ethereal source. So much testing, so little testing being done.

The evil entity behind everything is never referred to as "the devil"- in fact, there's no Christian mythology at all in the show- but plenty of Norse/Viking symbolism- from the Talismans to the Choosing Ceremony to the flowers on everything.

Future Julie can't save Jim, a not so long read: Whatever happened, happened. If she goes back to her younger self, and explains stuff, that younger self can stop things from happening because, to her, those events are yet to happen. But Jim's demise was/is supposed to happen; Jim goes down at the hands of Yellow suit man (version 1 where he is not warned), which triggers present Julie to go back to warn him, but fails (version 2, what we saw, he is startled and doesn't run because of her). If she were to succeed (saving Jim), however, future Julie wouldn't have to go back to warn him (not saving Jim), repeating the cycle (The Time Machine paradox: the reason to build the machine is to go back and prevent certain event, but, if indeed that event is prevented, then there's no reason to build the machine and go back, allowing the event to happen).

This show definitely has a "it's an acquired taste" vibe, but I'm in love with it! My boyfriend and I have watched the newest season and it was worth the build-up. It obviously has silly things here and there, but I think it just makes it more charming. The actors and actresses are awesome. I never feel like I'm watching an actor. I feel like I'm watching these real people in real peril, and I fear for them!

It could have been much longer. That's just when they started keeping track with the years written down. One reviewer I watched said the town has always been around. The 1506 is just when the townspeople became the monsters in the town.

The thing with that is that it's only happening to a few people, if they want to solve it they would have to tell the rest of the residents and no one knows how that'll play out. Everyone might call them crazy or panic and think that they are connected to the monsters and try attacking them.
