Anyone know where I can get a 627 snub nose like this with the fluted cylinder? I have looked on gunbroker and arms list and couldn’t find any.
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
Man I totally forgot to address the fluted cylinder in the video!!!! This model comes with an unfluted cylinder. My buddy (and myself) like the look of the fluted cylinder and also we use the flutes as reference points when reloading round by round. Anyway he sent this wheelie back to S&W Perf. Center to have a fluted cylinder installed. So the 627 PC Snub does not come with a fluted cylinder. It will always come with an unfluted cylinder. The revolver used in the movie Bloodwork does have the fluted cylinder and no lock but again the 627 PC Snubs will come with an unfluted cylinder.

The nicest thing about you man is you are not a typical reviewer, you got some stories with them, and that is some nice thing to hear at the midnight, it's soothing that always you got a story about a firearm (and also soothing that you're a man of class who only loves 1911s and wheel guns) and I don't have to hear random bang bang with'n the stories..... Thanks man!

Gorgeous revolver, I like the finish on this model's stainless steel. My 629 shows every touch. Someone stole his holster from the range... dirtbags. I like my local/small shop, if anything were stolen there everyone at the range that day would be banned until the item made it's way back. Funny story. I'm in the back of the store yesterday, moving pallets, cleaning up and the front calls for keys. The manager gives me his keys. I arrive in the front and they ask me to unlock the condom cabinet. The dude makes a comment to me about "So this is what we've come to?" and without hesitation I say "You mean stealing condoms?" The guy was pissed but a little amused at my retort. I didn't care, I'm retiring in a few months.
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! Yes someone stole his original holster at this public range. I think all he did was go use the restroom and he came back and it was gone. This has happened before even to me. I left a flashlight on a table and someone took it. Anyway great story!!! LOL

The factory rear sight will come really easy it's just the two screws that hold it in place. Once you remove it you will see there is a spot in the center to add a third screw, which the fix rear combat sight uses. Note that you will have to get new screws, the factory ones are about 1/16" to long once you make the swap. Its worth it love mine even more once I made the swap.

Interesting back story on the 627. I'm glad it found a good home! The Pugnose will always be a celebrity in the revolver world. What's not to like about 8 rounds of .357mag, moon clips, & you get it all in a lightweight, easy to carry N frame?
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
Yeah now my friend is like do you want to re-trade back...i'm like nope. He wants the 627 snub back in his collection. LOL. But yes what's not to like! I just did a video on the 327/627 but won't be able to post that one up till next month sometime.
@drdarwin16 жыл бұрын
Yes, there may be a slight advantage of a .357 revolver versus a 1911. However, when you think about it, the 686+ , pug, or 627, is on par with the round count with a 1911; with the advantage to the wheel gun. Why? Because a wheel gun can be shot from contact without a malfunction.

Man that's an awesome wheel gun! Love these from the safe vids. I debated between this and the chiappa rhino 200ds for a while ended up going with the rhino not sure I could hide one of these beasts under a t shirt as easily as the rhino with only 6 shots and the flat cylinder maybe one day I'll be able to afford both

I got one more FTS (From the Safe) vid coming... on a 1911 in an odd color.... but I'll try to do some more in January 2018 - but not gonna do too many more of them....long story. Anyway that is interesting on the rhino. I never thought of that!

Yes that is true - I meant to say apparently you have to file down the front sight??? I almost bought this wheel gun. Decided on the 686+ Deluxe Talo edition. I wanted a 3" barrel. I looked at the 586L, I didn't care too much for the ported barrel. I do like the idea of 8 rounds on the 627. I am really satisfied with the 686+. I am looking into getting the stainless steel blackened, at least darker. That is my only issue with it. I don't care too much for untreated stainless look. I prefer the dark blued style. Do you find this revolver to be a bit larger than your 586 since it carries 8 rnds? I would assume the cylinder would be bigger, making it not a practical EDC gun.
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
The 586 L-Comp definitely is smaller than this one. This 627 snub can be challenging to carry as I would only carry it OWB so... would need to dress around it. I know my bud tried to IWB it and it just didn't work out for him. I have tried to IWB my 327 and I also didn't find it practical. The fat cylinder just gets you in the right spot... But I do like how this is an 8 shot full stainless steel.... yes I prefer blued revolvers but S&W doesn't seem to do many....they had that Night Guard series that was a great line but apparently they had issues with it?

CC with this gun takes some getting used to. It's HEAVY. Also, that butt tends to stick out. I carry IWB. In the winter, I can get away with it, but haven't been able to in the summer (it's simply too big.) Still - I love the gun. 8 shots of .357? S&W? Hard to beat.

I have a friend like that too, but he usually doesn't one up me because he's not that knowledgeable about guns and he thinks more money=better quality, which isn't always the case. Example: I have a COLT 1911 70s series that I got a really good deal on so he had to go out and spend twice as much on a 1911 that isn't near the same quality. I just let him think he's got the better gun😂

No he's shot this many of times. He is just OCD and wants his guns to look brand new. I don't know how he does it but he makes all his guns spotless. Sometimes excessive cleaning could damage the gun. I'm not sure what tools he uses to "erase" the carbon and scratch marks but... I couldn't do that. And he is the guy that owns the Raptor. LOL. He got a little chip on the hood and he's trying to repair that and then he's getting some 3M wrap!?!??!?!?! I have no clue. Its an off road truck!!! what does he expect. but unfortunately he will not allow me to record the truck. Long story.... but who knows maybe I can convince him.

You are my favorite revolver channel. It makes me a little sad to hear that you've switched back to 1911s. I never really understood that gun. I had recently been considering purchasing a 2 or 3 inch 627 or 686 for the advantages of 357. Do you feel that 45 is far superior to that cartridge? My recollection was that the trigger pull on the scandium 327 pug nose was fairly light, but I guess compared to a 1911 it's a whole different story. Anyway thanks for all the great videos.
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
I know I know.... A lot of revolver fans have emailed / PM'ed me the same thing about being sad I am now on a 1911 kick. I will say the 1911 is the most carried gun in my carrying lifetime so... its kinda what I grew up on. But anyway I think the 45acp is a good round but I don't know if its superior to the .357mag (especially out of a 4"+ barrel). A 3" barrel might be a happy medium. Also that 357 is L O U D and can take a bit to get use to in a short barreled revolver. But yes the revolver and the 1911 are 2 different systems. Let me know what you plan to do. Thanks!
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90176 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! That all makes a lot of sense. I am currently carrying a PPQ 9mm in the winter and a PPS 9 in summer. A friend of mine and I conducted some meat tests with our carry ammo in 357 (Critical Duty 3 in barrel) and 9mm (PPQ) and I was impressed enough with the 357 results to start looking at wheel guns. I don't know why 1911s never caught my fancy; they do seem like great guns. I think maybe I was just a little too young to have been introduced to them before the striker fire gun craze started, and now the idea of a safety seems weird (though the Beretta 92 was my first gun).
@markgardner40396 жыл бұрын
Wow, you are correct... that's in fabulous condition especially considering that it was carried on a daily basis. Very nice! You may have heard this before, but there's a KZbin channel from a gentleman in the Northwest called 'The Yankee Marshal.' You and he have very similar (almost exact) tastes in S&W revolvers. You have many of my bucket list PC guns. My question: do you have any reason, based on experience or reputation, to run soft loads through that 627? I'd really love a 7-8 shot concealable/backup gun that can handle a strong diet of HOT 357 mag. I'd like to assume that pretty much any N frame based revolver can handle endless 357, but apparently w the pug nose thats not the case...

I'm interested in getting some Ahrend's grips for this gun. Do you know if they allow for the use of the moon clips? I'm wanting the round butt, N-frame, Tactical Smith and Wesson grips, with finger grooves. I'm going to use this as a car gun; placed in rig situated under the steering column; so I need a more substantial grip, than stock, for better purchase. I'm copying you, too; because you have excellent taste.
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
As far as I know yes. He had the same Ahrend's I have on my 327. The Concealed carry boot grips so those are the short grips. Are you talking about the Hogue rubber grips? Thanks for the kind words!
@traeucity60876 жыл бұрын
TheOl1911, you're welcome. No, I wasn't talking about the Hogue rubber grips. I was wanting a set of Ahrend's grips; but I want the longer ones, so I can get a full grip. I just saw, on another video on this gun; where a guy chose Badger grips, because he said that some replacement grips were too thick to allow for the use of moon clips and speed loaders. I figured since you had experience with Ahrend's grips; you might have tried to use either moon clips or speed loaders with them, on one of your revolvers. It's not a real big deal. I could always use one of the magazines from my Coonan .357, or a speed strip to reload. Heck, with 8 rounds; reloading might never be an issue.
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
I see - I think you will have no issues with Ahrends. I don't think they would interfere with moons/speed loaders. I had some full size grips on a 686+ 4" and no issues with using speed loaders.

Do you have any problems with light primer strikes with your performance center revolvers? If so what do you do about it?
@TheOl19116 жыл бұрын
I have not - I mean with the 327 I used these Buffalo Bore 125gr Barnes JHPs that did not go off...but those seemed to be hard primers... if you do get light primer strikes there is a little investigation to be done...and probably a gunsmith will need to take a look at it...

That holster was made by a company called Lobo Gunleather. I had one made for a S&W 327 2" (enhanced pancake) a long time ago by the original owner and its a great holster. I have the 629 same PC, and the sights I believe you were talking about is the D&L Sports. I love them and no you don't need a gunsmith to install them. dlsports dot com

Sir, respectfully, too much personal BS in your "review" of this weapon.

That's basically how every vid on his channel is. He doesn't do reviews, he just enjoys filming vids and having a convo with the community like you're shooting the shit at the range with your buddies.
