One thing missing from this video is sehwag asking Ishant "ek aur dalega (will you bowl one more over in this spell" and you could hear it ever so clearly on stump mic. Anyways, hats off to whosoever is managing cricket australia's youtube channel, real nostalgia every day in some form

I remember, watching this spell made me huge fan of ishant sharma. Ricky Ponting never struggle this much against any bowler in his career. Ricky was my most favorite batsman in that era. I wish ishant could shine again like this in ODI and T20 too.

A great player like Ponting was struggling when he faced this tall and long hair lanky youngster for the first time.Debutant Ishant was Ponting's nightmare in that memorable test series. Time has changed so rapidly now this boy from 🇮🇳's capital New Delhi is close to play 100 test matches for 🇮🇳 and only 3 wickets away from taking 300 test wickets.He is becoming better day by day like an old wine.We are proud of you Lambu. Congrats for the Arjuna award as well.

Idk but this is something different which I feel ...those were such a golden days..watching these legends on tv and then go to the field with my friends , play in a similar manner with so much enthusiasm and create a atmosphere .. shouting yelling celebrating ... luckily me and my boys got the chance to live that precious moments..

Used to wake up at 5.30 to watch this series. Mom used to scold me to get ready for the school. Was 8th std at that time. & She used to turn it off. We don't had any fancy mobiles/ internet at that time. Again turn on TV around 7.30 AM, watch the score, then turn off TV. These youngsters with android phone with 3 months internet connection along with hotstar subscription has no idea how beautiful to watch cricket just 10 years back. Pure bliss & good nostaliga❤️❤️😭🙏. Lucky to born in 90's first half.(1985-1995)

Buddy I used to do what you just put in 1991/92 during the World Cup in Australia when India was touring and were there before even the tournament started :). It was a Bush TV with 8 channels and may be StarTV but I had only doordarshan. No mobile no internet pure peace!

I have this theory. When you are playing against greats, it's always a good idea to play someone young. Because they are fearless. They would want to prove a point. And they don't have any experience of having been annihilated by the greats. This could also be why Sachin got out to so many newcomers.

Incredible bowling! I reckon 2007-08 was Ponting’s last season as a master batsman. He was brilliant thereafter, but never again the superhuman player he seemed to be between 2002 and 2008

i remember this game. after the catch is taken, everyone was running towards Sehwag, coz before that over Sehwag told captain to give over to Sharma coz Ponting is on strike. check it if any footage is available

Yes. But the missing details are that Sharma had bowled 7 overs on the trot and Kumble was considering throwing the ball to someone else when Sehwag (vice captain, IIRC) interjected and asked him to give Ishant another over since he had been troubling Ponting, whom was in form, and as a fellow Delhi player, he'd seen Ishant bowl lengthy spells. Good call.

What an incredible display of fast bowling! Ishant always managed to bring out his best against Ricky Ponting. I remember a few more great spells he bowled against the legend even on flat pitches in India and troubled him throughout the 2008 series.

Moreover, ponting acknowledged this spell himself, so a 19 year old bowler should be applauded for that. Secondly, Ponting played another 5 years after this test so was nowhere near his career end. Lastly, your comparison is utter rubbish because then Harbhajan troubled him in his prime, that does not make Ponting any less of a batsman or bhajji the greatest bowler and definitely doesn't make Ishant a zero. It's you talking like an ass. Stop taking offences and take notice of his sheer brilliance in 2008

Real fans appreciate good cricket, be it any team or player. The media etc are dumbasses who don't know the beauty of cricket. The Shane warnes the mcgraths the saaed Anwars the Gilchrists and many more legends from teams all over the world. The difference can be spotted even in the commentary. Foreign commentators praise good cricket be it anyone...exceptions in india are Ravi Shastri, Sourav Ganguly etc
