A little context to this innings:- Before this match, India played a practice match against some local team and struggled against them and Australia was at the height of their cricket. It was popular opinion that Australia will steamroll India around 3 days. And they were on their way with 3 down at 70 runs. But Ganguly stood up and said we are here to fight and this one inning put the spine back in the Indian side and it was hard fought drawn series one of the best we played in Australia.

Dhoni has many 70*'s, 80*'s, even 90's. That doesn't mean MS is not good batsman. Ganguly used to bat at 5 or 6. Dhoni bats at 6 or 7. One of the main reason MS doesn't have a single 100 outside asia is mostly he used to bat with tailenders. bcoz VVS, sachin n dravid was not in that good form in their last times between 2008-2014. Sometimes he got out cheaply, sometime he got out on 70, 80. And sometimes he remains not out.

Before this match greg chappel give some tips to sourav ganguly about his batting and then in this match ganguly scored hundred,after that ganguly thought that chappel would be great coach and then sourav insist bcci to make chappel coach of india & rest is history.probably the worst thing happened to indian cricket,almost ended ganguly's career, forced sachin to bat at 4 in odis, lost the world cup in group stage.
