Actually in whole india (according to hindu calendar) this month is considered as "kharmas" which means a negetive month in which we shouldn't perform any auspicious things like marriages, buying any new house or things like car, clothes ornaments etc. It ends in January at the day of festival called "makar Sankranti" or "khichdi".
