Thanks for making these video seven on smaller engines. Gambled this week on a 20 hp yamaha. Out here in Hawaii slim pickings sometimes for used motors thst are in good shape. This gives me confidence. Thank God bless

Great video! Hey Aaron next time you mix a small amount of epoxy try doing it in the bottom of an aluminum soda can, as in turn the can upside down and use the underside. It works perfect! Keep up the good work my friend.

You should've primed the panels first then rubbed them again with 600 grit wet & dry. that paint is not going to last long as I bet it's not made to stick to plastics on it's own. Not being rude but you were also spraying far too close hence all the stripeyness.

same problem occured with my buddies 40 merc, dealer quoted over $500 for a new pump. Bought an amazon special pump for $30 and replaced it, bought a second one just incase and the second one came with a mecury sticker on the box...

At the end of the video, you have a nice looking Mercuhama outboard. I would suggest painting the cowling Mercury black ... then buy three decals. I think you'd get more money when you sell it. ... my 2 cents. Thanks for your video and insights. Very helpful.

Can't wait to repaint my old Black Max. Going to use a primer sanded to perfection then two coats of Mercury black and a good coat of clear coat or two. What's a good filler for the lower it has some corrosion but not a lot? There's bound to be some pitting after sanding.

Fuel - air - ignition - water flow - outboards need all 4 all the time. Engine hours matter more than age, up to a point. Salting can be deadly. If in doubt flush it out. No flow = No go. Fuel quality is the major issue bar none. Water pumps are cheap so change them often. Marine means corrosive. Advice only helps if you use it. Good stuff !

I had a real nice aluminum boat for sale at one time. Tracker boat. with a stained outboard. water spots? exhaust stains? not sure. boat was fairly new. Not many calls about it on CL. So, i sprayed the outboard with deft clear poly. and it looked almost new. next day a line of buyers showed up. lol

If a boat got flooded during a storm are the engines completely gone? Or could they be saved??
@BornAgainBoating Жыл бұрын
Generally they could get saved, if you are talking fully submerged, that's not the best thing but the sooner you get them running and cleaned out the better. This might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZKwmYpqibB2atE&t

I have the same motor with an overheat problem. Hoping it’s not this issue. Going to replace the thermostat. I just got it and the guy said it had only 300 hours all freshwater
@basedchris87842 жыл бұрын
@bornagainboating I swapped the thermostat and it’s having the same issue. I pulled the lower unit and the impeller looks pretty new and feels good. What should be my next steps? It pees fine and starts and runs it just overheats when running wide open after a few minutes
@adambertalan57992 жыл бұрын
@@basedchris8784 I have the same problem. The whole cooling system was taken apart (changed the rubber thing at the adapter plate, new impeller, housing, plate, gaskets, everything), we even took off the cylinder head to remove any salt buildup or debris from the waterways. Still overheats. To me it feels like it doesn't have enough water pressure when the pump needs to pick up the water. If I attach a hose the "pee" looks a lot stronger and healthier, when it's in the water it feels a bit weak to me, even at higher rpms. Maybe it's a construction issue? What do you think Aaron?
