Nice find! Takes the eye to see the potential and know what the equipment is. Keep up the great work!

The fact that you got the machine for $500 off the scrap pile and now have a fully functional device is beautiful.

As someone who works in maintenance, it really bothers me that people are willing to throw away perfectly good machinery instead of fixing it. Oh well, you got a good deal! One man's trash is another man's treasure!

Score! That's an amazing deal. May you find many more items that you need.

It is encouraging to see how many things you do to stretch your budget to get the best outcome. I am looking forward to trying out one of your wind turbines when you get to the stage where you are ready to put some out in the field for evaluation. I am trenching in an extra conduit into the solar installation I am having done to the location where I hope to place your turbine so I can integrate it into my solar system.

Would it be cheaper to go with stainless tube and mandrel bending to fashion frames as if creating a custom car exhaust scheme.....and filling the tube void with expanding foam or a slurry of a cement with maybe a styrofoam waste as the aggregate instead of stone or pebbles. You could manufacture the bends and expand the ends as a slip joint and then cut straights to size for framing and weld the seams and fill as the solid fill would enhance the strength of the tube. the orientation of the slip joint would be a thought as to not let water seep into the joint and interior of the tube....hence the other aspect of a filling........and at the end of the day....the structure weight as a damping mechanism aspect. Bulk tubing would probably be cheaper than solid metal stock. IF weight as a damping aspect....either stone or say metal scrap as in machining waste could be a recycled source stream as a filler in the cement as a bulking agent. The units would be in a stationary location for the life of the device for the most part.....and longevity of Stainless. Food for Thoughts !

IF YOU GO WITH A TUBE FRAME AS I SORT OF OUTLINE..... Then the actual scoops as for MASS could be reduced by going to a polymer instead of metal.......and consider a FLYWHEEL but not a conventional flywheel.....I would conjure a fluid flywheel as to modify MASS per conditions......as to add or subtract the MASS weight for a variable flywheel per se.......then the link to a generating unit....go with and think....automatic transmission fluid torque converter......and perhaps the later style locking clutch type used after 1980 in the auto transmission world if you are a gear head. Rethink the scoops as ship sails and MASS........
