I dont see that happening hes dancing along those lines definitely. The monsters are doing everything in their power to break Boyd and i think we're gonna see some new stuff from the monsters and the towns people, mainly Boyd has to adapt. Yes, I see him going there but someones gonna be there to bring him back. Also, that Father Khatri apparition just talks shit, thats all he does. Im pretty sure thats a mixture of Boyd's grief and that place playing tricks on him. Yes, he is willing to do anything and everything for the towns people and I see him dancing along those lines especially when hes being challenged by Acosta and I do see something there too. I see Acosta finally stepping up and doing something and being the one to pull Boyd back from that place. I am super excited for this new season!

First! Been thinking this! He’s about to go into his villain era, or die lol

It really feels like that's where it's heading. He touched the darkness with Elgin and now there's no going back

I don’t think Boyd touching the darkness is a sign of his decline, I think it’s a sign of the entire towns.

I implore you to research the 12 Jungian archetypes. They are the basis of every character in every story, ever written, from before movies even existed. With Hollywood, we have been watching the same movie over and over. Every adventure movie is just another retelling of the same heros journey narrative. What makes the story and characters different is how the writers breathe life in them, but they are all ultimately just iterations. Very much like From itself, a collection of all myths condensed in a repetitive cycle. Back to the point, if you know the archetype, you know their pattern, their story, how their story ends, and who their allies and enemies are. We resonate toward certain archetypes because they also represent psychological patterns in the mind. Boyd is the Ruler archetype because the Ruler fears chaos and exercises power, just like Boyd. His allies are the caregiver (mother), which is Donna, and the warrior, which is Sara. His enemies are the wildcard, which is Acosta. Boyd and Acosta seem destined to be opposed to each other. Every archetype is a triune, one light self, and two polar opposite shadow selves. The Ruler's shadow becomes the Tyrant or the weakling. This is why White Shirt Boyd was the Ruler, and as the MIY emerged (the polar opposite and shadow of the BIW ), that's when we see the Tyrant, Yellow Shirt Boyd.
